Work-life balance: wfh edition

Balancing work and being a mom can be tricky, but as a travel agent, I’m lucky enough to have some flexibility. 🧳 Here’s a little glimpse into how I handle working from home with my two-year-old! 👶🏻✨

Morning Setup:

Before I dive into my work, I set my little one up with some snacks, his iPad (yep, he’s an iPad kid… don’t come for me), and some milk to get him started for the day. He also has his Hot Wheels cars and a few other toys to play with—honestly, the iPad is mostly background noise while he enjoys his toys! 🚗🎶

Fresh Air Breaks:

On my 15-minute breaks, we love to step outside and get some fresh air. ☀️ It’s the perfect way to reset for both of us, and he gets a bit of energy out while I stretch my legs.

Lunch Together:

My favorite part of the day! At lunchtime, we sit down, eat together, and watch a show. 🍽️📺 It’s our little bonding time before I dive back into work.

Is having an iPad kid ideal? Probably not, but it works for us right now, and I’m not stressing over it. I’m grateful for the flexibility my job gives me, so I can enjoy these moments with my little one, even while juggling work! 💻👩‍👦

... Read moreWorking from home with a toddler presents unique challenges, but it also offers incredible opportunities for connection and flexibility. One of the most effective strategies is to establish a structured morning routine, ensuring that both you and your child are prepared for the day. Allocating specific time blocks for work can help maintain productivity while still engaging with your little one. Consider incorporating educational activities that keep your child occupied while you work. Simple tasks like art projects or interactive play can provide the stimulation your toddler needs, allowing you to focus on tasks at hand. Additionally, utilizing screen time mindfully can strike a balance between productivity and play. Workshops and online resources can support working moms by sharing best practices and tips for managing child engagement. Also, remember to embrace the mental health benefits of fresh air breaks. Regular outdoor play can reduce stress for both mother and child, creating a positive and energetic atmosphere. Lastly, dedicating time to family meals, where you can bond and catch up, is invaluable. The flexibility that comes with remote working can enable working moms to cherish those moments while maintaining professional responsibilities.
