Nakhwa Festival at Flowave Cafe

I had a magical experience at Flowave and here are some tips so to increase your experience.

1) The cafe is situated among private properties, so you need to drive deep in, Driving in and out shares a single lane, so do drive with care.

2) Parking lots are limited. We reach at 545pm but waiting quite a while before the show actually starts.

3) don’t need to bother about seats with tables. Everyone will end up abandoning the seats and go outside.

4) food was not fastastic at the cafe. I recommend to just get snacks and drinks and grab dinner after the show.

5) live bands starts at 630pm. You can head outside to sit anywhere but not too near the fire. I saw many come with blankets.

6) Remember to purchase your own Nakhwa Bong to write your wishes down and tie them outside. I find this initiate very meaningful.

7) lighting of fire starts at 7pm. But for a complete light up. The show will starts around 720pm where the fire will coordinate with the live band. I think this is the highlight. At this point of time, I saw people still streaming in. Maybe it’s a good idea to come later- get a coffee and view The show outside.

... Read moreIf you’re planning to visit Flowave Cafe for the Nakhwa Festival, I highly recommend arriving a bit later in the evening, around 6:30 to 7:00 pm, to catch the live band and the fire lighting show without the long wait. The atmosphere outside is incredibly cozy with many attendees bringing blankets to sit comfortably while enjoying the music and mesmerizing fire displays. One of the most meaningful experiences here is the Nakhwa Bong wish ritual. After purchasing your Nakhwa Bong at the kiosk, take a moment to write your wishes on the special paper and carefully tie it with the red strings. Hanging your wish on the outdoor wires connects you with the community sharing this hopeful moment. Just be careful when near the fire as there are signs reminding visitors about the risk of burns. Parking is limited, so if you can, try carpooling or arrive early to find a spot without stress. Also, don’t expect gourmet dining at the cafe; the best choice is to enjoy light snacks and refreshing drinks during the event and plan to have dinner afterward at nearby restaurants. Capturing photos of the festival is a great way to relive the memories, especially the coordinated lighting with live music. Flowave Cafe offers a unique blend of nature, music, and cultural traditions that makes it a must-visit in Jeju. Whether you’re a local or a traveler, this festival provides a serene yet vibrant night to unwind and connect.
