• unfortunately, if your hair has been permed it’s not accepted so I wasn’t able to. 😭
2. Why didn’t you get a wig?
• I’m inexperienced with wigs, a cut is cheaper, and when it comes down to it: I just wanted to cut it! 🫶
3. Why didn’t you do a bob to try it out first?
• I actually HAVE and hated it! 😅 This time I didn’t want to compromise length with another cut I didn’t want in the first place — and I am SO happy I didn’t!
4. What IS a bixie? 🤔
• It’s a mix between a bob & a pixie! Pixies are very short and bobs are usually past chin length. A bixie is long enough to tuck your hair behind your ears, chin length (or a little shorter), and a bit more textured. Truthfully, my bixie could probably pass as a bob!
5: I have curly hair, would it look the same as yours?
• Hair types definitely change how a haircut looks. When asking your hairstylist/looking up inspo search with intent! Due to my hair type being a 1B/1C, I had to look up “straight hair bixies” otherwise they would come up with a range of straight to curly styles. I recommend researching according to your own hair type:)
If you have any more questions let me know!! And as always, only respectful comments welcome:) thank you!!
... Read moreWhen I first decided to go for a bixie haircut, I knew it would be a big change, but I wanted something fresh and manageable. A bixie, being a hybrid between a bob and a pixie, offers a modern, textured style that suits various hair types, but understanding how it works for your hair is important.
One thing I realized is how hair texture and previous treatments affect options like hair donation. Since my hair was previously permed to be wavy, it wasn’t accepted for donation, which was disappointing. For those interested in donating, it's key to check whether chemical treatments affect eligibility.
Choosing a bixie over a wig or traditional bob was a personal decision. Wigs felt unfamiliar to me, and I wanted a more permanent change without layering cuts that I didn’t enjoy before—such as a bob I had tried previously. This helped me avoid compromising on length or comfort.
For those with curly hair wondering if a bixie will suit them, it’s essential to tailor inspiration searches and stylist consultations to your hair type. Since I have a 1B/1C hair texture (mostly straight to slightly wavy), I found that searching for straight hair bixie styles was most helpful. Curly hair bixies can look different, often with more volume and bounce, which makes communication with your stylist critical to achieve the desired look.
Personal experiences like mine highlight that embarking on a new hairstyle journey, especially a bixie cut, requires research, patience, and confidence in your choice. Finding what suits your lifestyle and hair type will make the transformation enjoyable and manageable. If you’re considering a bixie, think about your hair’s natural texture, maintenance preferences, and how the style will fit your daily routine.
I remember seeing a video about hair being it uses a sponge to soak up oil that was spilled into the sea. I'm not sure what the specifics are for that. It's probably too late now, but you know, for the future. but please do research on that cause I have no idea what i'm talking about 😂
