... Read moreI’ve been on a journey to find the best Izakaya experiences around, and Jinkura Izakaya in Kallang stands out for its authentic and inviting atmosphere. One dish that truly captivated me was the Fugu mirin – its delicate texture and subtly sweet marinated flavor make it a standout. The smoothness of the fugu paired with the mirin's slight sweetness creates a perfect balance that excites the palate every time. Beyond the Fugu mirin, Izakayas generally offer a fantastic variety of small plates that encourage sharing and tasting different flavors. Classic dishes like yakitori, agedashi tofu, and takoyaki provide comforting warmth and rich umami taste, which perfectly complement drinks like sake or Japanese beer. Jinkura Izakaya's friendly vibe encourages conversations and food exploration, which is why I’m curious to learn about other hidden gem Izakaya spots. Whether you prefer traditional ambience or modern twists in Japanese cuisine, discovering these places can be a real treat for any food enthusiast. If you’re new to Izakayas, my tip is to start with small dishes that highlight seasonal ingredients and regional specialties. Don’t hesitate to ask the staff for their recommendations—they often have unique menu items not found elsewhere. In summary, Jinkura Izakaya offers more than just a meal—it’s a place to indulge in genuine Japanese culinary culture, relax with friends, and satisfy cravings for authentic flavors. Next time you’re in Kallang, give it a try and savor every bite!

Got cheated by Kura Sushi in Osaka Japan 🇯🇵😱
We were literally ‘cheated’ in the face by the popular revolving sushi bar in Osaka! First of all, they seemingly appeared at every turn and corner wherever we go. We waited for about 30mins for a seat. (Lucky there were nice photo op around to keep us entertained) Next, the kids were trying

Do you realize that flight ticket to Osaka lands in Kansai International Airport KIX and not Osaka International Airport? The Kansai region is made up of 7 prefectures - Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Hyogo (Kobe), Shiga, Wakayama and Mie. If you score an affordable ticket to “Osaka” but have visited Osak

Not kidding — S$24 for an Omakase-level experience
Tried their lunch set and the whole table was filled like a mini feast. Can’t believe S$24 per pax can feel this premium ✨ 💡 Highlights: • Vibes: Super cozy Japanese izakaya feel — wooden interiors, counter grill, and there’s literally no cashier. It feels like a place only regulars know about.

We spent $800 at Burnt Ends
We finally scored a reservation at Burnt Ends and went for lunch. Solid execution, great ingredients—m - but was it worth ~$800? Probably not. When expectations are that high, even a good meal can feel underwhelming. These were some of the things we tried and recommended by the staff. It was good
