My favorite read! How about you? 📚

Here’s a book i’ve been loving recently. Anything by Rupi usually ends up being one of my absolute favorites. I am so close to having basically every book! I have a pretty short attention span so I’ve noticed that poetry books help me a lot for getting the point across in a thought provoking way! 💕 What are some books you guys have been enjoying, or do you guys have trouble reading as well? #booksummary #lemon8challenge #lemon8bookclub #lemon8contest #poetry #storytime #Lemon8Diary #comment #letschat #follow @Lemon8 BookClub

... Read moreIt's so real when you mentioned struggling with a short attention span for reading! I totally get it. That's exactly why discovering poetry, especially artists like Rupi Kaur, has been such a game-changer for me. When I first picked up 'home body' by Rupi Kaur, I was instantly hooked. It’s not just the beautiful cover with its gold lettering and line art illustration of a head, or the promise of a 'My Honest BOOK REVIEW' that drew me in, but the way she crafts powerful emotions into such concise, digestible verses. Her style is incredibly accessible, which is a huge plus if you're someone who finds traditional novels daunting. Each poem feels like a little burst of insight, making it easy to pick up, read a few pages, and then put down, without feeling like you've lost the plot. For instance, that particular line, 'i am trusting the uncertainty and believing i will end up somewhere right and good,' really resonated with me. It’s a powerful reminder to embrace life's unknowns, and it's exactly the kind of uplifting, thought-provoking message you find throughout her work. It’s no wonder I gave 'home body' a 5/5 rating! If you're also struggling to get into reading or feel like your attention drifts easily, poetry might just be your secret weapon too! Beyond Rupi Kaur, there are so many incredible contemporary poets out there who write in similar, engaging styles. Here are a few tips I've found helpful for enjoying poetry and getting more reading done, even with a short attention span: Start Small: Don't feel pressured to read an entire collection in one sitting. Read one poem, let it sit with you, and come back for more when you feel ready. Explore Different Themes: Poetry isn't all about flowery language. There's poetry on every topic imaginable – love, loss, social justice, nature, everyday life. Find themes that resonate with your personal experiences or interests. Listen to Audio Poetry: Sometimes hearing the words spoken aloud can make a huge difference. Many poets perform their own work, adding another layer of emotion and understanding. Join a Book Club (or online community!): Even if it's just for poetry, discussing different pieces can deepen your appreciation and expose you to new artists. That's why I love communities like the @Lemon8 BookClub. Don't Force It: If a particular poem or collection isn't clicking, move on! There are countless others waiting to be discovered. The goal is to make reading enjoyable, not a chore. Finding books that genuinely speak to you and fit your reading style is key. For me, Rupi Kaur's ability to deliver profound messages in short, impactful poems has made reading a joy again. It truly feels like a personal journey of trusting the uncertainty, and it always ends up somewhere right and good with her words. So, if you're looking for your next 5/5 read, especially one that won't overwhelm a short attention span, I highly recommend diving into 'home body'. What are your favorite poetry collections or tips for staying engaged with reading? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
