$150 Winter Fit ❄️ Harbin -15°C Tested 🤯

Planning an affordable winter fit? I got you!

Coming from sunny Singapore, most of us barely touch our winter gear, it’s either in the storeroom or under the bed (guilty 🙋🏻‍♀️). When I was planning for Harbin’s -20°C, I went down a research rabbit hole - 4W1H, reviews and prices.

And here’s the fun part: my full winter outfit ended up costing under $150! From my beloved TB of course!

My Essential Winter Gear Checklist ✨

• Mask — $1.80

• Scarf — $6.10

• Hat (bought there)

• Thermal innerwear — $9.20

• Fleece jacket — $14.30 (highly recommend!)

• Down jacket — $55

• Gloves — $3.20

• Hand warmers — ordered via Meituan to hotel!

• Winter pants — $15.90

• Boots — $14.20

• Socks — $5.35 (for 5 pairs)

• Heating insoles — $4.20 (for 40 pcs)

💭 How It Actually Felt

I ended up layering lesser than expected, didn’t need the thermal camisole I packed. My body stayed warm enough with these layers while my face, hands, and feet suffered the most (thank goodness for the mask + hand/feet warmers 🥲).

🙅🏻‍♀️ Things I Bought But Didn’t Use / Need

• Heating patch for phone, chills hit the hands in no time to use phone outdoors

• Beanie, swapped for a furry hat that blocked wind way better (and looks better too!)

• Fleeced insoles, didn’t help much; heating insoles were a game-changer

• Thick leggings (800g), way too chunky and uncomfortable to move in

If you’re braving subzero temps on a budget, this $150 winter fit may actually work! Keep yourself (and your wallet) warm for a brrr-avo adventure😎

&&& I also went Snow Town 雪乡 and Snow Valley 雪谷 suburbs, 5h away from Harbin! Check out my post here >> Tap!

Harbin

... Read moreIf you're considering winter fashion for Harbin's freezing temperatures, here are some practical tips based on my experience: 1. Prioritize windproof and insulated outerwear. A well-chosen down jacket paired with a fleece jacket underneath proved essential for warmth without bulk. 2. Accessories like masks, gloves, and scarves play a big role in protecting exposed skin. I found hand warmers and heating insoles especially helpful for prolonged outdoor activities. 3. Quality boots with decent grip are important for snowy, slippery conditions. I bought affordable snow boots online that were surprisingly warm and comfortable. 4. Layer smart, but avoid overly thick thermal innerwear that restricts movement. Sometimes less is more—choosing breathable yet warm layers avoids overheating indoors. 5. Buying from trusted online marketplaces like Taobao can save costs compared to local winter gear shops. Just double-check reviews and sizing info. 6. Some products like thick leggings or heating patches may not be as effective as expected, so I recommend testing in advance if possible. Finally, keep in mind that winter fashion is not just about style but also about functionality and comfort to fully enjoy your trip to Harbin. Stay warm and stylish on a budget!

❄️ SAVED MORE THAN 50% BUYING ON TAOBAO 😋
Since winter holiday season is coming, I thought I’d share my Taobao haul that kept me warm in -20°C Norway/Europe (Dec–Jan trip). I refused to pay $100+ for one puffer jacket and $30+ for one HeatTech top… so Taobao it is 😌 But I didn’t buy blindly. I combed through XHS, filtered reviews and
