Hello everyone ๐Ÿ’” Iโ€™m really worried right now. One of my outdoor kitties has a painful wound on her neck, and it looks like sheโ€™s really suffering. It breaks my heart to see her like this because sheโ€™s usually so sweet and full of life. Iโ€™m planning to take her to the vet tomorrow, but I only have $60 at the moment, so Iโ€™m hoping they can at least check her and do what they can.

In the meantime, I want to make sure Iโ€™m helping her the best I can before we get there. Does anyone know the safest way to properly clean her wound or keep it from getting worse? Any advice or prayers for her

So sorry for your kitty ๐Ÿ˜ญ. Wrap her in a towel for comfort and have her neck sticking out obviously. If you have saline (contact lens or sterile is best, if not make a saltwater rinse. 1 cup clean water, 1/2 teaspoon salt, let it cool to room temperature. Use either a syringe or soaked gauze. Gently pour or dab the wound to rinse dirt away. Pat dry using a clean gauze or cloth. Leave the wound open to air. Donโ€™t let your cat scratch or lick the area. Hope the vet visit goes well and your cat gets better. Please consider keeping it inside, itโ€™s too dangerous outside, as you now know. Next time might be worse. Good luck
