LEARN CHRIST AND LIVE!!! AMOS 5

We are to Love each other as God Loves us sooo much, that He left His Heavenly home to come to Earth knowing He would suffer and die not only for me but for us all!!! We are to Live in Peace by Loving each other by treating others as we want to be treated!!! If God’s promises are that we are imitators of Jesus Christ, and are guided by The Holy Spirit, and we don't just think about how Israel was punished for their sinful living!!! Then when we persistently disobey, God among us is about to move on the unjust treatment of the lowly which makes us wholeheartedly guilty of trespassing against God!!! And we have to realize, God will not let the guilty go unpunished, and the saddest thing about it all is Scripture says troubles/punishment fall on the evil and the good alike!!! #HelpUsGod !!!

AMOS 5:5 Hear this word, Israel, this lament I take up concerning you: 2 “Fallen is Virgin Israel, never to rise again,

deserted in her own land, with no one to lift her up.” 3 This is what the Sovereign Lord says to Israel: “Your city that marches out a thousand strong will have only a hundred left; your town that marches out a hundred strong will have only ten left.” 4 This is what the Lord says to Israel: Seek me and live; 5 do not seek Bethel, do not go to Gilgal, do not journey to Beersheba. For Gilgal will surely go into exile, and Bethel will be reduced to nothing.” 6 Seek the Lord and live, or he will sweep through the tribes of Joseph like a fire; it will devour them, and Bethel will have no one to quench it.

There are those who hate the one who upholds justice in court and detest the one who tells the truth. 11 You levy a straw tax on the poor and impose a tax on their grain. Therefore, though you have built stone mansions, you will not live in them; though you have planted lush vineyards, you will not drink their wine. 12 For I know how many are your offenses and how great your sins. There are those who oppress the innocent and take bribes and deprive the poor of justice in the courts. 13 Therefore the prudent keep quiet in such times, for the times are evil. 14 Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is.

... Read moreLately, I've been spending a lot of time reflecting on the powerful words of Amos 5:6: 'Seek the Lord and live.' This verse isn't just an ancient command; it feels incredibly relevant to our lives today. For me, 'seeking the Lord' isn't about grand gestures or complex rituals. It's truly about cultivating a daily relationship – finding moments for quiet prayer, delving into scripture, and consciously trying to align my actions with His teachings. I've found that when I make this effort, even in small ways, my perspective shifts. It’s like discovering a hidden strength or a guiding light in the midst of life's complexities. The article beautifully highlights how God desires us to love each other and live in peace. When Amos writes about seeking justice and not oppressing the poor, it really resonates with me. It reminds me that our faith isn't just personal; it's deeply communal. How can we truly 'live' if we're ignoring the suffering around us? I often ask myself: Am I truly treating others as I wish to be treated? Am I standing up for what's right, even when it's uncomfortable? These aren't always easy questions, but they're essential for living out Amos's message. What does it mean to 'live' according to this verse? I believe it's more than just existing. It's about experiencing a life filled with purpose, peace, and genuine connection – a life that truly flourishes. It’s about walking in integrity and knowing that you're striving for righteousness. Sometimes, when I'm out in nature, perhaps gazing at a scenic landscape with rugged mountains reaching for the sky, or watching a river flowing peacefully, I feel a profound sense of God's presence. It’s in those quiet moments, surrounded by the beauty of green and purple flowering bushes, that the meaning of 'Seek the Lord and live' truly sinks in. It’s a call to find life not in fleeting pleasures or material gain, but in an enduring relationship with the divine, one that guides us towards love and justice for all. The warnings in Amos about neglecting justice and oppressing the vulnerable serve as a stark reminder. It’s a call to self-examine our own hearts and societies. I've personally found that when I prioritize seeking God's will, my patience grows, my empathy deepens, and I’m more inclined to extend grace to others. It’s a continuous journey, full of learning and growth, but the promise of 'life' – a truly abundant and meaningful existence – makes every step worthwhile. So let's encourage each other to seek Him daily, living out His love and justice in every interaction, just as the scripture in Amos 5:6 guides us.
