God's plans for His people are predicated upon what gifts God places into His obedient Offspring/Children!!! Our Father wants to equip each and every one of us with the knowledge and abilities to supply everything that is needed to provide consistent, harmonious, and sustaining lives for all people!!! We have to be strong enough to develop, into who God expects us to be outwardly, so that we can develop all the gifts that our all-knowing God can embed in us His creations to create the things necessary for our Earthy success!!!
EXODUS 31:1Then the Lord said to Moses, 2 “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, 3 and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— 4 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, 5 to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts. 6 Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. ... Read moreYou know, diving into Exodus 31 really opened my eyes beyond just reading ancient scripture. When it talks about God filling Bezalel and Oholiab with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and all kinds of skills for craftsmanship, it's not just a historical account of building the Tabernacle. It's a profound blueprint for how God still works in our lives today! This passage shows us that divine gifting isn't just about spiritual roles; it’s about practical skills imbued with divine purpose.
I've been thinking a lot about 'the spirit of craftsmanship' and what that truly means in our modern world. It's not just about being good with your hands, though that's certainly part of it. To me, it’s about approaching any task with excellence, creativity, and a sense of divine purpose. Whether you're designing something beautiful, solving a complex problem at work, cultivating a garden, creating intricate digital art, or even raising a family with intentionality, if you're doing it with diligence and an intention to create something good and lasting, that's the spirit of craftsmanship at play. It’s about tapping into that divine ability God has placed within us, seeing our work as a form of worship and contribution.
The verse from our reading, 'I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you. EXODUS 31:6,' truly resonates deeply. It reminds me that everyone has been equipped with unique talents and capacities. It's not just for a select few in history. Maybe your "craft" is teaching, writing compelling stories, developing innovative code, providing compassionate care for others, or leading a team with vision. God has given you the inherent capacity to excel in these areas, to bring order, beauty, and function into the world around you. It's about recognizing these gifts and having the courage to develop them.
Sometimes we might doubt if our skills are 'spiritual enough' or 'important enough,' but Exodus 31 challenges that notion. Every skill, when offered in obedience and used for good, becomes part of God's greater plan. It’s a call to stewardship – to nurture the talents we’ve been given, to learn, and to grow. The joy and fulfillment that come from truly utilizing these God-given abilities are immense, bringing a deep sense of purpose to our daily lives.
In a broader sense, this 'spirit of craftsmanship' is so vital for any community or 'big country' to truly thrive and flourish. When individuals are encouraged to identify and hone their God-given skills, and then apply them with integrity and purpose, society benefits immensely. Imagine a world where every person felt empowered to use their unique abilities, not just for personal gain, but to contribute to a larger, harmonious whole – a community where innovation, compassion, and excellence are inspired by a divine source. That's the vision I see in Exodus 31 – a collective effort, with each person playing their part, equipped by God, to build something truly magnificent and enduring. It's an incredibly inspiring thought, and it encourages me to constantly seek out and refine the gifts God has placed within me, knowing they are part of a grander design.
