Hi everyone, my name is Karsyn, and I’m asking for help for my sweet kitten, Mittens.
Over the past few days, I noticed Mittens wasn’t acting like herself. She became lethargic, stopped eating, and just looked at me with tired eyes. I knew something was wrong. I rushed her to the vet, and that’s when I received devastating news:
Mittens has pyometra, a severe and life-threatening uterine infection.
Pyometra is not something minor. It is an emergency condition that can turn fatal very quickly if not treated. The vet explained that her uterus has filled with infection, and without immediate medical intervention, it could rupture and cause sepsis.
Hearing that my baby’s life was at risk shattered me.
She needs urgent surgery (an emergency spay), hospitalization, antibiotics, and close monitoring. This isn’t a simple procedure — because of the infection, it’s much more complicated and risky than a routine spay.
We have already started treatment, and I am currently paying the bills off as best as I can. I did not hesitate when they told me what needed to be done — I said yes immediately because her life is not something I would ever gamble with.
So far, costs include:
• Emergency exam
• Bloodwork and diagnostic testing
• IV fluids
• Hospitalization
• Emergency surgery
• Post-op medications and antibiotics
• Follow-up visits
And there are still remaining treatments and recovery costs ahead.
I am doing everything I can to cover this, but the remaining balance is overwhelming. I hate asking for help, but Mittens deserves to live a long, healthy life. She is still just a kitten. She’s my comfort, my baby, and such a huge part of my heart.
Watching her hooked up to IVs and seeing her so weak has been one of the hardest things I’ve experienced. She doesn’t understand what’s happening — she just knows she doesn’t feel good. And all I want is to bring her home healthy and safe.
