Spending the holidays alone is tough. My nana, who I once lived with in kindergarten and 1st grade and even went to school with (she was a teacher), made the holidays so special.
Decorations, music, food, Christmas movies, and family were what the holidays used to mean to me. My nana passed away when I was 13 after a tough battle with cancer at the young age of 61. After that, holidays were never really the same. I was lucky to have a best friend at the time who made me feel so welcomed in her family, but my own family was falling apart, and that was really difficult for me.
As I got older, my mom and I drifted apart too. Being alone on the holidays has been a grieving process, but I know grief all too well. This year, I’ve been watching all my favorite childhood Christmas movies that my nana and I loved, drinking some @swissmissbrand hot cocoa like we used to, and tonight, I decided to do some Christmas makeup.
I’m making the most of what I have. I hope you’ve had the best day! Happy holidays, Merry Christmas 🎄✨
