Melanin girly brown lip liner hack 💋

Soooo I am a brown skin girl and my lips are naturally dark i have tried almost EVERY brown eye liner & lip liner you can think of trying to achieve that brown lip liner look !

Of course after a million attempts they were not successful AT ALL, it was either blending in with my lips or really light and looked weird 🤣🥴

One day I notice a concealer in my makeup bag that I literally never use 🤷🏾‍♀️ amongst all the other crap I don’t use in there 🤣 and the idea of using it as a lip liner just popped up in my head !

It’s the literally the best hack I’ve ever thought of , it stays on ALLL day and gives the look I want weather I pair it with a pink lippie, clear gloss , or a brown lippie! It just GIVESSS every time 😮‍💨

... Read moreOkay, so we all know the struggle of finding that perfect brown lip liner, especially if you have naturally dark lips like me. The goal isn't always a dramatic look; sometimes, we just want that 'my lips but better' natural makeup vibe. While my concealer hack (which, seriously, is a game-changer!) is my secret weapon, I've picked up a few more 'beauty hacks' over the years to truly master the natural brown lip liner look that I'm excited to share. First off, it's all about application. A harsh line is the opposite of natural. Instead of drawing a sharp outline, I start by softly tracing just outside my natural lip line to create a subtle plump. Then, here's the trick: I gently feather the liner inwards, blending it slightly towards the center of my lips. This creates a soft gradient and helps the liner merge seamlessly with whatever I put on top, preventing that 'floating liner' look. You want it to look like a natural shadow, not a demarcation line. Finding your ideal brown is another crucial step for 'natural makeup.' Not all browns are created equal! For my brown skin and dark lips, I've learned to lean towards browns with warm undertones or those that are just a shade or two darker than my natural lip color. Avoid anything too cool-toned or greyish unless that's the specific look you're going for, as it can sometimes make lips look ashy. Swatch different shades on your actual lips (not just your hand!) to see how they truly blend with your natural pigment. Once your liner is perfectly feathered, what next? For the ultimate natural look, a clear gloss is your best friend. It gives that juicy, hydrated finish without adding extra color, letting your perfectly lined brown lips shine through subtly. If you prefer a bit more color, a sheer nude lipstick or a lip tint that's close to your natural lip shade works wonders. Sometimes, I even just use a tiny dab of my favorite brown lipstick right in the center and blend it out with my finger, creating an effortless ombré effect that looks incredibly natural and polished. And since we're talking 'beauty hacks,' let's touch on longevity. My concealer trick already nails this, but for traditional lip liners, I always make sure my lips are prepped. A light exfoliation followed by a good lip balm (let it sink in!) creates a smooth canvas. You can also lightly blot your lips after applying lip liner to help set it. Some people even lightly powder their lips before applying liner, but I find that can sometimes look a bit dry, so I stick to balm and blotting. While I swear by my NYX Concealer hack, I know some prefer dedicated lip liners. For those seeking alternative 'brown lip liner natural makeup' options, I've heard amazing things about the NYX Suede Matte Lip Liners – they have a fantastic range of browns. ColourPop Lippie Pencils are also super affordable and come in a wide variety of shades that could work. The key is always to swatch and see how it harmonizes with your unique lip tone. Ultimately, achieving that natural brown lip liner look is a journey of experimentation. Don't be afraid to play around with different shades, application methods, and pairings. The goal is to enhance your natural beauty, not mask it. With these tips and maybe a little help from a 'beauty hack' or two, you'll be rocking your perfect natural brown lip in no time!
