For example, when I started feeling irritated by little things — like a delayed message or background noise — I realized it wasn’t just annoyance; it was my body's way of signaling overload. Instead of pushing through, I began scheduling intentional breaks, allowing myself to pause and reset mentally. The exhaustion described as being tired but unable to relax really hit home. I remember lying in bed after a long day, unable to shut off my racing thoughts, which lead to restless nights. Trying techniques like mindfulness meditation and deep breathing exercises helped calm my mind and ease physical tension. This practice made it easier to transition into restful sleep and morning energy. Overthinking everything can trap you in stress mode, preventing you from enjoying the present moment. When I caught myself spiraling in worry, I started journaling to externalize those thoughts, which brought clarity and reduced mental clutter. It also helped me identify patterns and triggers, giving me more control over my mind. Feeling disconnected or numb often feels like going through the motions without joy or meaning. To combat this, I prioritized reconnecting with activities and people that bring me life, whether it's nature walks, creative expression, or quality time with loved ones. These simple acts restored a sense of purpose and emotional balance. Ultimately, understanding and respecting that "You matter too" encourages self-care without guilt. Slowing down is not a weakness but an essential part of maintaining holistic well-being. Listening to your nervous system by recognizing these signs will empower you to reclaim your mental health and live more fully.

My question is: How do I slow down to get the break I need? So far it only comes at night when I'm so exhausted and can't even fight sleep, yet wake periodically throughout the night, and by mornings light I feel like I haven't slept a wink. And today is a repeat.

Every single one is me. I’m always on call for others. I’m in full blast menopause on top of having MS. I’m exhausted and nobody is listening.
