Read your Bible now don’t wait until the new year

2024/12/5 Edited to

... Read moreI remember always telling myself, 'I'll really get into my Bible next year, after the holidays, or when things calm down.' Sound familiar? It’s so easy to push spiritual growth to the back burner, isn't it? But honestly, I’ve learned that waiting for the 'perfect' moment is just a trap. The truth is, there’s no better time than now to dive into God’s word. Just like the image on this post says, 'Don't wait until the new year to get it right.' It's about making a daily connection, not just a New Year's resolution. For me, the importance of reading the Bible daily became incredibly clear when I started treating it like a conversation with a trusted friend. It wasn't about checking a box; it was about seeking guidance, comfort, and wisdom for today's challenges. When I committed to even just 10-15 minutes each morning, my perspective on everything shifted. I felt a deeper sense of peace and a clearer understanding of my purpose. It’s like spiritual nourishment that truly sustains you throughout the day. Now, let's talk about something I used to find intimidating: the Old Testament. I often wondered, 'why is it important to read the Old Testament?' It felt ancient, sometimes confusing, and I'd often skip straight to the New Testament. But through consistent reading, I’ve discovered its incredible richness. The Old Testament lays the foundation for everything. It shows us God’s character, His faithfulness through history, and helps us understand the prophecies that point to Jesus. It's where you see the origin of covenants, the development of God's relationship with humanity, and powerful stories of faith, failure, and redemption. For instance, reading through the stories of Abraham, Moses, or David isn't just history; it’s a manual on faith, obedience, and God's unwavering love, even when people mess up. Understanding these stories makes the New Testament even more profound. I used to think it was just a collection of old laws, but now I see it as a vibrant narrative essential to grasping the complete story of God's plan. Finding the right approach to daily Bible reading can also make a huge difference. There are so many resources out there, from chronological plans to thematic studies, and different teachers offer unique insights. Some people love audio Bible apps, others prefer journaling their thoughts. The key is to find what resonates with you and helps you engage with the text consistently. You don't have to follow any specific person's method religiously; the goal is to engage with the scripture itself. The beauty is in the personal journey and discovery. Whether you're using a specific study guide or just opening your Bible and asking God to speak to you, the act of reading is what truly matters. So, if you're waiting for the 'perfect' time or wondering if daily reading, especially the Old Testament, is worth it – my experience says a resounding yes. Don't let another day pass by. Start small, be consistent, and watch how it transforms your life, not just for the new year, but every single day.
