8 Ways to Set Healthy Boundaries
I’ve started thinking about healthy boundaries like a speed limit.
A speed limit isn’t meant to restrict us, it’s there to protect us. It’s a reminder that beyond a certain point, the risk becomes greater than the reward.
I’ve realized our personal boundaries work in much the same way. We usually know what happens when we keep pushing past our limits: burnout, frustration, resentment, or feeling like we’ve abandoned our own needs to meet everyone else’s.
That’s why I’ve learned it’s so important to not only set healthy boundaries, but to honor them consistently. Not everyone will understand them, agree with them, or even see their value, and that’s okay. Other people’s opinions don’t determine whether your boundaries are necessary.
Protecting your peace isn’t selfish. Sometimes it’s one of the healthiest ways we can care for ourselves and show up more fully for the people we love.
What are some healthy boundaries you’ve put into place, and what has helped you stay consistent with them? 🤍
