Renaissance Outfit Inspo ⚔️ 👑 🐉

I LOVE going to the renaissance festival! So much that my husband and I are season pass holders and go every weekend during the fest season 🫶🏻

Dressing up is truly half the fun, so if you’re planning i trip this year I highly recommend dressing up!

Some key components of Renaissance garb:

⚜️ Peasant dress or blouse - perfect as a base layer!

⚜️ Bodice or Corset - you can DIY, use something you already have, or buy something off Amazon or Etsy!

⚜️ Linen Skirt - any maxi can work! I prefer the look of linen

⚜️ Leather Belt - O ring belts are pretty cheap on Amazon or Etsy!

⚜️ Pouches - these hang on your belt and are perfect for carry your belongings around all day!

⚜️ Accessories - some ideas are jewelry, hats, silks, pins, and honestly anything else you want to add!

⚜️ Boots or COMFORTABLE shoes - make sure they are COMFY and can get DIRTY! If you wear a long skirt they will be hidden anyways, so don’t focus too much on looks!

I added some Amazon recommendations to get you started!

Make sure to check your local thrift stores too!

Minnesota Renaissance Festival
2024/4/25 Edited to

... Read moreStepping into a Renaissance Festival feels like time travel, and for me, half the magic is in the dressing up! If you're wondering what to wear to a Renaissance festival or how to dress for Renaissance festival, you're in the right place. I've spent countless weekends immersing myself in the medieval merriment, and I've picked up some fantastic tips to help you craft the perfect renaissance fair outfit that's both authentic-looking and super comfortable. Let's start with the base. A good peasant blouse or chemise is your best friend. I've found that styles like an off-shoulder peasant blouse or a puff-sleeve, square-neck dress work wonderfully as a foundation. For a truly flowing, ethereal look, a long white tiered chemise dress can be stunning under other layers. These pieces provide that essential historical silhouette while keeping you cool. Next up, the bodice or corset. This is where you can really define your renaissance outfit. I adore the look of a floral bodice, especially one with intricate lacing detail – it really pulls the whole look together. You can find beautiful options, from sturdy leather to more decorative tapestry-style floral corsets. Don't be afraid to experiment with colors like rich blues or greens to complement your skirt! Speaking of skirts, a linen skirt is a classic choice. I personally love a light green skirt or a flowy green maxi skirt; they look so natural and allow for easy movement. Layering skirts can also add a beautiful fullness and make you feel extra festive. Remember, comfort is key here! Now for the fun details! A leather belt, particularly an O-ring belt, is a must-have. Not only does it cinch your waist for a flattering shape, but it's also practical for hanging pouches. I hang my phone and wallet in a pouch on my belt, leaving my hands free for all the festival fun. I even saw someone with a cute blue whale charm on their belt once – it's those little touches that make your renfaire outfit unique! Don't forget accessories! A wide-brimmed hat not only adds to the aesthetic but also provides essential sun protection. When it comes to jewelry, think earthy tones, hammered metals, or even some simple beads. And for the ultimate immersion, consider carrying a wooden mug or a metal pint mug for your drinks. I've even seen people with decorative potion bottles with faux leather holders attached to their belts – it's such a whimsical touch! Finally, the most crucial tip: comfortable shoes. You'll be doing a lot of walking, so prioritize boots or sturdy, broken-in footwear. If your skirt is long enough, they'll be mostly hidden anyway, so focus on function over fashion here. My personal go-to are sturdy leather boots that can handle dirt and uneven terrain. Crafting your medieval fair outfit is an adventure in itself. You can find incredible pieces on Amazon, Etsy, or even by hunting through local thrift stores for unique finds to create a truly one-of-a-kind look. The goal is to embrace the spirit of the Renaissance and have an unforgettable experience!
