Hot dog Fingers and Toes 🎃

So many of you asked how I make these adorable (and slightly gross!) hot dog fingers and toes, and trust me, they couldn't be simpler! When it's 'sPoOkY Season' and 'lunch time' rolls around, especially if 'POV-you're a mom' like me, you need quick, fun ideas that actually get eaten. These hot dog creations are a lifesaver! Here's the super easy way to transform ordinary hot dogs into creepy, crawly treats. First, you'll need regular hot dogs (any brand works!) and some buns. I usually boil or pan-fry the hot dogs first, just as I normally would, then let them cool slightly before carving. To make the 'fingers,' I usually cut the hot dog into three segments. Then, at one end of each segment, I carefully carve out a small, crescent-shaped piece. This creates a perfect spot for the 'fingernail.' You can also make a few small cuts across the 'knuckles' to give it a more segmented, finger-like appearance. For 'hot dogs fingers' that really pop, make those knuckle cuts deep enough to show after cooking. For 'hot dog toes,' I keep the hot dog either whole or cut it in half, depending on the size of the hot dog and how big you want the 'toe.' Instead of knuckle cuts, I focus primarily on just the 'nail bed' at the end. A slightly wider, flatter crescent works well here. You can even make tiny slits on the other end to suggest the lines on the sole of a foot, if you're feeling extra creative and have some extra time! Now for the best part – adding the 'nails'! Ketchup is my absolute go-to for a bloody, spooky look. Just dab a little into the carved-out area. For 'hot dogs with nails' that are a bit different, you can also use a small piece of cheese (like cheddar or white cheese, cut into a nail shape), or even a tiny sliver of onion for a truly gross, realistic effect! Mustard can give a sickly yellow nail look too, which is surprisingly effective. Just place your finished finger or toe hot dog into a bun, and arrange them to look like they're peeking out from under the bun. These aren't just for lunch!
