- Mr. and Mrs. Herbert are old, influential, and have a "good connection" to the royal court, and the house is also the home of Irish-line English gentry loyal to the throne.
- One day, Queen Victoria wanted to visit Ireland and stay at this house for two nights in 1861. This was a major event in the history of Muckross House and influenced the refurbishment of the house.
- Several years before His Majesty (starting around 1850s), the Herbert family made a major home decoration investment to prepare for the Queen. All these arrangements cost about £30,000 in that era (equivalent to millions of pounds today!). Made purely impressive to the Queen.
