How I spent my sick day! 😷🤒
Today has been rough… I woke up feeling absolutely miserable. Here are a few things I’ve done so far to improve my situation!
1. I stayed home from work so I didn’t get anyone else sick! (Well, I actually went in to get tested for Covid/flu because I work in a doctor’s office.. but then I went straight home!)
2. I changed into my favorite PJ’s!
3. I took some 💊 to bring my fever down.
4. I’ve been drinking LOTS of water!
5. I took a nice nap 😴
6. I took a bath 🛁
7. I made some chicken noodle soup. Classic sick food.
8. I put on a relaxing TV show and RESTED!
Hoping to feel better soon!🤞🏻Stay healthy everyone! Take your vitamins and stay home if you’re sickyyyy! Muah! 😚
Feeling under the weather can really throw a wrench in your day, right? My recent sick day definitely taught me a lot about making the most of recovery. While resting and staying hydrated are super important, I've found a few extra things that really elevate my sick day self-care routine, especially when I need to 'sleep off' whatever bug I've caught! First off, let's talk about fueling up. The article mentioned chicken noodle soup, which is a classic for a reason! But what about breakfast when you're feeling too weak to cook anything elaborate? I swear by simple, comforting options. Think about a warm bowl of oatmeal with a drizzle of honey, easy to digest and soothing. Or maybe some plain toast with a little bit of avocado for healthy fats if your stomach can handle it. Even just a banana and a cup of herbal tea can make a huge difference in getting some nutrients in without overwhelming your system. The key is gentle nourishment to support your body's healing process. And when it comes to resting, sometimes just lying in bed isn't enough to truly 'sleep off' the illness. I often find that having some comforting background noise helps me relax without overstimulating my brain. For me, that often means revisiting some nostalgic comfort shows or even, yes, cartoons! There’s something about the lightheartedness of a classic animated movie or a beloved cartoon series that just allows my mind to drift and not focus on how crummy I feel. It's a mental escape that complements physical rest, helping me truly wind down. Another game-changer for my sick day routine is creating a truly cozy environment. Beyond just changing into my favorite pajamas (which is a must, by the way – shoutout to those comfy PJs!), I like to make sure my space is dimly lit, perhaps with a calming diffuser scent like eucalyptus or lavender. Keeping a soft blanket nearby and a thermos of warm water or tea means I don't have to keep getting up. It's all about making recovery as effortless and pleasant as possible. Don't forget the power of fresh air, even if it's just cracking a window for a few minutes. It can really refresh a stuffy room and lift your spirits slightly. And finally, remember to be kind to yourself. It's okay to let go of your usual productivity expectations. A sick day is a dedicated period for healing, and embracing that can make all the difference in how quickly you bounce back. Prioritizing this kind of thoughtful self-care is what truly transforms a miserable sick day into a productive recovery period.
