... Read moreOkay, so like many of you, I've been feeling the pinch at the grocery store lately. It feels like prices just keep climbing! That's why I've become a pro at finding amazing deals and stretching my dollar, especially when it comes to shopping at Walmart. My goal? To feed myself (and my family, if applicable) delicious, wholesome meals without breaking the bank. And guess what? It's totally doable! My weekly grocery bill for these 7 meals, including all the ingredients, came out to just around $63 – how amazing is that for a whole week of dinners! One of my biggest secrets for making these $10 Walmart meals work is smart shopping. Before I even step foot in the store, I check the weekly ads. Walmart often has great deals on staples like Russet potatoes, penne pasta, and even meat. I always keep an eye out for their Great Value brand for things like canned beans, cream of chicken soup, and sliced carrots; it's just as good as the name brand but way cheaper. Another personal favorite tip: don't overlook the frozen section! Frozen broccoli florets are often more affordable and last longer than fresh, and they're perfect for dishes like my cheesy chicken and broccoli rice. And speaking of value, did you know you can often find decent quality mozzarella cheese at a fantastic price to top off your bakes? When I'm planning my week, I try to incorporate versatile ingredients. For instance, a rotisserie chicken is a lifesaver – I use it for Friday's cheesy chicken and broccoli rice and then transform the leftovers into Sunday's amazing chicken bacon ranch pasta bake. Talk about getting two meals for the price of one! And those hot dog buns and classic franks for Monday? They're total comfort food that costs next to nothing. I also love how simple ingredients like garlic Texas toast and breaded chicken patties can come together for a quick and satisfying Wednesday dinner, often costing around $11 for that meal according to my budgeting. Meal prepping is another game-changer. Even if it's just chopping my potatoes and sausage ahead of time for the smoked sausage bake, or steaming the broccoli for Friday, those little steps save so much time and make me less likely to order takeout. I also make sure to use up leftovers creatively. For example, any extra Russet potatoes from Saturday's roasted garlic & herb tenderloin dinner can easily become mashed potatoes for another meal. Freezing leftover cooked chicken, like I do for Friday's meal, means I always have a quick protein option ready for future meals. Finally, having a well-stocked pantry makes all the difference. Things like light brown sugar (for those candy carrots!), ranch dressing mix, country gravy mix, and a good selection of spices mean I don't have to buy something new for every single recipe. These simple strategies, combined with Walmart's affordable prices, have helped me consistently create delicious, budget-friendly meals. It really shows that eating well on a budget isn't just a dream – it's a delicious reality!
