Why I’m slowly deleting my Social medias

Social media has been a big part of my life since a very young age. As I’m sure it has been also for most of you. I miss when it didn’t feel like a necessity.

I miss when I could just post silly pictures for the fun of it and not feel judged or the need to be perfect. I’ve learned that no matter how much I truly try to keep my online presence private; by deleting & unfollowing people. Limiting the things I choose to share online, less posts, and so on… it never beats the long lasting effect that social media can have on me. I’m slowly removing myself peacefully and quietly. I think Lemon8 will be a great app & the start of something new if it continues the way that it is. I just want to feel like a normal human being again without there phones shoved in their face. Like a kid who knows nothing about the online world and how wicked it can be. #vulnerablepost #socialmedia

... Read moreIt's true, sometimes it just feels like 'it is too much.' That constant pressure to perform, to share, to keep up, it can truly take a toll. I completely get that feeling of wishing you could just be a 'normal human being again without their phones shoved in their face.' For me, realizing the negative impact on my mental health was a huge wake-up call. I noticed I was constantly comparing myself to others, feeling anxious about posting, and losing genuine connection in favor of online validation. It made me ask myself, 'should I delete social media?' and if 'was it a good idea?' Disconnecting from something so ingrained in our daily lives isn't always straightforward. If you're feeling overwhelmed and wondering 'how to isolate yourself from social media,' remember it doesn't always have to be an all-or-nothing approach. You could start with a 'digital detox' – setting specific times where your phone is put away, or designating certain days as 'no social media' days. Experiment with unfollowing accounts that trigger self-comparison or make you feel inadequate. Sometimes, simply curating your feed more carefully can make a world of difference. The benefits for your mental health can be profound. By disconnecting, I've found a significant reduction in my anxiety levels. That constant 'annoyed face' I felt looking at my phone started to fade. Instead of scrolling through endless feeds, I'm now spending more time on hobbies I love, reading books, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with a favorite 'slushy drink'. This shift has really helped me regain a sense of self-worth that wasn't tied to likes or comments. It helps answer 'how could a person's mental health benefit from disconnecting themselves from negative social media that provokes self-comparison?' – by giving you space to breathe, to be present, and to value your own life without constant external validation. Deciding 'is deleting Instagram a good idea' or other platforms is a personal journey. For me, it's about reclaiming peace and focusing on real-life connections, echoing the sentiment of 'why I'm Slowly deleting my Social medias'. Don't feel guilty if you need to step back. It's about finding what brings you joy and peace, and sometimes, that means stepping away from the digital noise. Lemon8, for example, feels like a breath of fresh air because it encourages creativity and positive sharing without the intense pressure I felt elsewhere. It's about finding platforms and habits that truly serve you.

Apps I’m deleting in 2026 and why
Social media can be a good thing but recently, I’ve just been bombarded so much anxiety surrounding it. I looked through my screen time and on the app I noticed I was wasting either a lot of time on or was using as a filler when I could’ve been doing other things. So here’s a list of all the apps.

✨Honestly I got ride of it for personal reasons. Me as a person idk why I used to always feel like I’m in competition with people on social media even if I didn’t know them in person. So deleting these social medias honestly helped me focus on me🫶🏼. It’s like a getting to know yourself experience.
