Things I Learned the Hard Way.
It honestly blows my mind how many things you only learn through experience. 18 feels so young, but you’re suddenly thrown into a world where you’re supposed to have it all figured out.
Nobody teaches you how to protect your energy, how to rest without guilt, how to let go, or how to stop giving people more than they give you. You just learn as you go… and it’s rarely easy.
These are a few things I learned the hard way — but maybe someone else needs them right now too. 💛
What’s something YOU wish you knew sooner?
I love hearing everyone’s different experiences.

Learning to protect your peace is one of the most valuable lessons you can absorb early on, especially as you transition into adulthood. Many people only realize later that if they have to force something—whether it’s a relationship, a friendship, or a job—it’s likely not meant for them. Prioritizing your energy and mental well-being becomes essential, and it’s okay to set boundaries that might disappoint others but ultimately preserve your happiness. Rest is another area where guilt often sneaks in, particularly among young adults eager to prove themselves. It’s important to understand that rest isn’t laziness; your body and mind need downtime to recharge and function optimally. Embracing rest as a vital practice enables you to approach life’s challenges with renewed strength and clarity. Self-worth can be mistakenly linked to how much you struggle or endure hardships. However, your value does not depend on how difficult your path is. Recognizing that you can always start over at any age empowers you to make changes without fear or shame. Life is full of opportunities to grow, pivot, and redefine what success means to you. Letting go of people who don’t reciprocate your energy or care can be tough but freeing. Giving more than you receive often leads to burnout and resentment. Developing self-love means honoring your needs and recognizing that healthy relationships are reciprocal and nurturing. These lessons, often learned the hard way, serve as a reminder that adulthood isn’t about having everything figured out immediately. It’s a journey of ongoing personal growth, self-compassion, and courage to choose what truly serves you well.
