Benefits:

Fermentation is beneficial because it preserves foods.

Fermentaion promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria that have been shown to help the gut and boost your immune system. Fermentation can increase beneficial vitamins like vitamin C.

-A spoonful of this honey can sooth a sore throat.

-It helps settle the stomach and reduce bloating.

-A tablespoon or so of the lemon honey combined with a cup of boiling water makes for a delicious cup of tea.

-Add some of the honey to any herbal tea for an added immune boost.

-It also tastes delicious.

The honey you use is very important It must be raw, unpasteurized honey. A host of beneficial bacteria and yeast lay dormant in raw honey due to its high osmotic pressure environment. As the honey loosens and thins in this recipe due to the presence of the other ingredients, it starts to ferment, developing a beneficial microbial environment that is good for the gut and general health. #immunesupport #naturalremedy #coldandfluseason #herbalist #farmacy

... Read moreWhen it comes to natural sore throat remedies, fermentation plays a crucial role in enhancing the health benefits of this homemade concoction. The process allows beneficial bacteria to develop, which can support gut health and improve your immune system’s response. Raw, unpasteurized honey is a key ingredient here because it contains naturally occurring enzymes and microbes that contribute to fermentation. This not only improves the taste but also boosts the mixture’s antimicrobial properties. The combination of lemon and ginger is another important factor. Lemons are rich in vitamin C, which is essential for immune function and helps reduce inflammation in the throat. Ginger provides anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, helping reduce throat soreness and potential nausea or stomach discomfort often accompanying colds. Adding a cinnamon stick introduces cinnamaldehyde, an active compound with natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, further enhancing the remedy’s effectiveness. To prepare this fermented honey remedy, carefully slice your lemons and chop fresh ginger before combining them with the cinnamon stick and raw honey. Letting the mixture sit for 1-2 weeks at room temperature allows natural fermentation to occur. It’s important to turn the jar occasionally to ensure everything is covered by honey and to release any built-up gases by “burping” the jar daily. After fermentation, storing the mixture in the fridge helps preserve it while cooling it for easy use. For use, a spoonful of this fermented honey can soothe irritation in your throat, while mixing it into a cup of hot water or herbal tea creates a comforting beverage perfect during cold and flu season. Moreover, this remedy gently aids digestion and mitigates bloating thanks to the fermentation’s probiotic effects. Overall, this natural remedy offers a delicious and healthful way to support your immune system and ease common symptoms. Make sure to always use raw, unpasteurized honey to maximize these benefits and enjoy the soothing relief it provides.
