What have you been working on lately? ✨
I usually struggle this time of year to get back into painting and creating, between school starting back and homeschooling and then the holidays and trying to fight off seasonal depression by staying active and getting out as much as possible I just have a harder time finding the time to sit down and make something new, how about you? What do you do when life gets in the way of making your art?

Many artists experience creative slowdowns, especially during life’s busiest periods like the start of school and holidays. Managing time between homeschooling, personal commitments, and mental health challenges such as seasonal depression can make dedicating time to painting and creating difficult. One effective approach to overcoming these hurdles is to establish small, manageable art sessions instead of waiting for long uninterrupted periods. This encourages steady progress and keeps creativity flowing. Another helpful strategy is integrating art into daily routines. For example, using quick sketches or acrylic paint studies related to familiar themes like mushrooms or floral patterns can serve as both a creative outlet and relaxation method. Additionally, sharing recent artwork, even if unfinished or painted months ago, can boost motivation and invite community engagement. Many artists find inspiration by seeing the latest pieces from peers, fostering a supportive environment. Physical activity and spending time outdoors also play an important role in combating seasonal depression and replenishing creative energy. Taking breaks to enjoy nature or simply change surroundings can spark new ideas for acrylic paintings or other artistic mediums. Ultimately, finding balance and being kind to oneself during challenging seasons helps maintain a sustainable creative practice. Whether it’s a female artist managing multiple roles or anyone navigating life's complexities, sharing experiences and tips within artistic communities can provide encouragement and fresh inspiration to keep creating.
