I’m a Kidney Disease 🦠 Warrior
In 2019, I crashed into #kidneyfailure and had a #neardeathexperience that resulted with me leaving the hospital 🏥 and in order to survive on life saving #dialysis , later on I left in center dialysis and went on home hemodialysis with my Wife as my #Caregiver Melissa Kim Traylor (she’s a true warrior herself and never gave up on me 🙏) until I received my Second Chance, My Miracle Gift 🎁 of Life! I received my #kidneytransplant on 8/11/20, from an Amazing family, direct donation, from my hometown of Louisville, Kentucky to San Antonio, Texas ✈️ @ Methodist Specialty and Transplant! I’m very grateful and blessed and I live a full life and able to work and be apart of my family, most recently was the birth of my handsome Grandson, Ryder! I share with you that although it is not a cure ( there’s no cure for #ckd) transplant has been a great choice for me, Are there challenges? You bet but for me the Rewards outweighed the risks, at least in my journey…my name is Jonathan, and I’m a Kidney Disease 🦠 Warrior ⚔️🤺🤟
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) affects millions worldwide, and understanding its journey is paramount. Kidney transplants, like the one I received, can significantly enhance the quality of life, despite not being a cure for CKD. Many living donors are eager to help, resulting in life-saving gifts like mine. Dialysis remains a common treatment, but advancements are providing new hope for patients. Activating community support, as my wife Melissa provided, is crucial for navigating this journey. Resources like support groups and educational forums can greatly assist patients and caregivers alike. Celebrating milestones, such as the birth of my grandson Ryder, demonstrates that life continues on, filled with joy even amidst challenges. Embracing the warrior spirit during these trials not only empowers patients but also builds awareness about kidney health. Living a full life after a transplant is possible, and sharing stories can inspire others to fight through their own battles.
