how to treat houseplant pest🫶

number one tip that i see OFTEN - neem oil is a preventative pest control measure and should not be used to solely treat houseplant pests. it can be used within your “pest control mix” or as i say “bug potion” but needs to be supplemented to ensure the pests are actually being killed.

there are two options: liquid or powder based pest control. i personally use both depending on the situation. diatomaceous earth suffocates pests on the surface level of the soil, and liquid pest control cleans the leaves and stems to kill the pests and eggs.

... Read moreHouseplant pests can be a major concern for plant lovers. Understanding how to effectively manage these unwelcome guests is crucial for maintaining a vibrant home garden. Besides the commonly recommended neem oil, which acts as a preventative measure, incorporating other products can enhance your pest control strategy. One such product is diatomaceous earth, a natural substance that works by suffocating pests on contact, providing a powerful and organic solution. In addition to these treatments, consider integrating homemade solutions, such as a mixture of soap and water, or even non-toxic alcohol sprays. For instance, a blend of isopropyl alcohol and water can be an effective means to tackle fungus gnats, provided it's used sparingly to avoid harming beneficial bacteria. Moreover, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings can help in mitigating gnat populations, as they thrive in moist environments. Monitoring your plants regularly to identify early signs of pest infestations is also key. Look out for yellowing leaves, webbing, or visible bugs on your plants. By acting quickly, you can prevent minor issues from escalating into significant infestations. Furthermore, remember that providing optimal growing conditions, including proper watering, adequate sunlight, and correct fertilization, strengthens your plants' resistance to pests. Continuously educate yourself about the specific needs of your plants and be prepared with a pest management plan to ensure your indoor garden remains healthy and beautiful.

I just got that today at Lowe's. Now we just spray it on the leaves and the soil. Because it didn't really say the bottle, how or even instructions?
