🔥 I Combined THREE Italian Pasta Classics… and It Might Be My New Favorite 🍤🍝
If Shrimp Scampi, Aglio e Olio, and Fra Diavolo had a baby… this would be it. 🤌✨
Buttery garlic.
Spicy tomato sauce.
Fresh lemon.
Juicy shrimp.
Sweet peppers.
A silky restaurant-style finish.
This is the kind of pasta that makes everyone think you ordered takeout from an upscale Italian restaurant—but you made it at home.
🍤 Garlic Diablo Shrimp Scampi Pasta
Ingredients
* 1 lb linguine or fettuccine
* 2 lbs large shrimp, peeled & deveined
* 1–2 sweet bell peppers (red, orange & yellow), thinly sliced
* 4 tbsp butter
* 4 tbsp olive oil
* 10 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 shallot, diced
* 2 tbsp tomato paste
* 1 (14 oz) can crushed tomatoes or fresh
* ½ cup dry white wine
* Juice of 1 lemon
* Zest of ½ lemon
* 2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
* 1 tsp Calabrian chili paste (optional but worth it!)
* ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan (Or your preference - I used Feta)
* ¼ cup chopped parsley
* Salt, pepper, paprika, Italian seasoning & garlic powder
* Reserved pasta water
👩🍳 Directions
1. Cook pasta until al dente and reserve 1 cup of pasta water.
2. Season shrimp with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Sear 1–2 minutes per side, then remove.
3. In the same pan, sauté the sweet peppers for 4–5 minutes. Add the shallot and garlic and cook until fragrant.
4. Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1–2 minutes. Deglaze with white wine and reduce.
5. Add crushed tomatoes, red pepper flakes, and Calabrian chili paste. Simmer for 8–10 minutes.
6. Stir in the lemon juice and zest.
7. Return the shrimp, toss in the pasta, add reserved pasta water as needed, then finish with Parmesan and parsley.
✨ Pro Tip: Finish with a small pat of cold butter and a drizzle of high-quality olive oil for that glossy, restaurant-style sauce.
I topped mine with crumbled feta instead of Parmesan, and it added the perfect creamy, tangy finish that balanced the garlic, lemon, and spicy Diablo sauce beautifully.

If you're a fan of Italian pasta dishes but looking for a way to elevate your home cooking, this Garlic Diablo Shrimp Scampi Pasta is truly a game-changer. Combining the rich buttery garlic notes of Shrimp Scampi, the simplicity of Aglio e Olio, and the spicy zest from Fra Diavolo, this fusion recipe offers incredible depth of flavor that is both comforting and exciting. One personal tip I've found useful when preparing this dish is to be attentive to the timing of each ingredient. Searing the shrimp just right - about 1 to 2 minutes per side - locks in their juiciness, while slowly simmering the sauce with crushed tomatoes and Calabrian chili paste allows the flavors to meld beautifully. Using a good-quality white wine to deglaze the pan adds a subtle acidity that brightens the sauce without overpowering it. A special touch I recommend is finishing the dish with a pat of cold butter and a drizzle of high-quality extra virgin olive oil; this not only adds gloss and richness but also contributes to a silky texture reminiscent of restaurant-quality pasta sauces. For cheese, while Parmesan is the classic choice, don't hesitate to experiment with crumbled feta as it introduces a creamy and tangy contrast that perfectly balances the spicy and garlicky notes. Including sweet bell peppers not only adds a pop of color but also a hint of natural sweetness that complements the heat from the crushed red pepper flakes and chili paste. Fresh lemon juice and zest are essential to cut through the richness and bring a refreshing brightness to every bite. For pasta selection, linguine or fettuccine work best as they hold the sauce well and provide a pleasant bite. Reserving some pasta water to loosen the sauce as you combine everything is a key step to achieve the silky consistency. This dish is ideal for impressing guests during dinner parties or simply treating yourself to a flavorful homemade meal that rivals upscale Italian restaurants. Plus, it pairs wonderfully with a crisp white wine or sparkling water with lemon. Give this recipe a try for your next pasta night — it's a delicious way to explore Italian flavors with a spicy twist that’s sure to become a new favorite in your kitchen.
