kings of the water series

i enjoyed this series so much!!

i loved the nonverbal rep and the asl rep (my little is non verbal and signs) it hits close to home. i love seeing it represented with care and respect in books.

i also loved that it was a swimmer romance. i’ve only read one and it was deep end by ali hazelwood. so finding a whole series was a shock and it was so good.

if you want to read a swimmer romance series this is it. they’re rare but they are so worth it.

all available on ku!!

As someone who has a personal connection to the nonverbal community, I found these elements not only refreshing but also handled with a deep sense of respect and authenticity. It’s unusual to find books that portray characters with these traits so sensitively, and it enriched my reading experience tremendously. Additionally, the series focuses on a swimmer romance, a niche I hadn’t explored much before except for Ali Hazelwood’s Deep End. The Kings of the Water series really expanded my appreciation for this genre, combining sports passion with complex, heartfelt romances that feel genuine and rewarding. The stories include intriguing themes like single parenthood, age gaps, surprise babies, and found families, which added layers of emotional depth. What I also loved were the dynamics between characters, like the slow-burn romances, opposites attracting, and forced proximity situations. These classic romance tropes are given fresh life through vivid storytelling and well-developed characters, such as single dads, coaches’ daughters, and Olympic athletes. For anyone seeking rare swimmer romance novels that celebrate diversity, including nonverbal and ASL representation, this series on KU is a treasure worth exploring. It’s clear that author Jasmin Miller puts a lot of heart into her stories, creating an inclusive and captivating reading experience that stands out in the romance genre.
