a forbidden alchemy
woah what a ride.
i loved reading this (i followed along in my physical copy) it was full of twists and action. there was never a dull moment.
the world building was great. long lost fated lovers. the fmc is on the run in hiding. it so good.
the fmc is written in 1st person pov BUT the mmc is written in 3rd person pov. that writing style confuses me a little but other than that it was an epic read!

Having finished reading "A Forbidden Alchemy," I can say the story truly stands out in the romantasy genre. The intricate world-building captures a gritty yet magical atmosphere where class struggles and secret societies add depth beyond usual fantasy tropes. The tension between the Artisans and Craftsmenāand the rebellion of the last Alchemist Patrick alongside Nina, the only Earth Charmerācreates a dynamic backdrop that keeps you invested. One element I found particularly immersive is how the narrative uses different perspectives: the first-person point of view for the female main character (FMC) grants intimate insight into her fears and motivations as she hides on the run, while the third-person point of view for the male main character (MMC) provides a broader, sometimes mysterious lens on his actions and allegiances. Although this switching can be confusing initially, it ultimately enhances the emotional complexity and suspense. The story thrives on slow-burn romance that unfolds naturally, with fated lovers who are both entwined by destiny yet challenged by the world around them. The betrayals and cliffhangers compel you to keep turning pages. From my experience, this book not only satisfies your craving for action and plot twists but also offers a richly layered narrative about loyalty, choice, and forbidden love. If you delight in stories with elemental magic and nuanced characters caught in a dystopian power struggle, "A Forbidden Alchemy" is an epic journey worth your time. I recommend following along with the physical copy or digital version, and exploring Stacey McEwan's continuation in "A Forsaken Prophecy," which promises to deepen the battle between the Artisans and Craftsmen and reveal even more earth-shattering secrets.
