I've heard so much buzz about this book, and finally decided to pick up the audio version, and let me tell you, it's been an experience! From the moment I started Chapter 1, I knew this wasn't going to be your typical read. The narrator does an incredible job of bringing the quirky, unsettling world of the Warren to life. If you're into dark academia with a heavy dose of surrealism and psychological twists, you absolutely have to add this to your list. The story follows Samantha Mackey, a scholarship student at an elite MFA program, who finds herself an outsider among a clique of wealthy, cloyingly sweet, and deeply weird girls who call each other 'Bunny.' Listening to it at 1.2x speed, as I usually do, makes the narrative flow perfectly, keeping the suspense high without rushing the intricate details. The voice acting really enhances the bizarre and often creepy atmosphere of the book. I often found myself picturing the scenes, almost as if watching a movie, especially with the descriptions of their strange 'workshops' and rituals. It's the kind of book that makes you question reality right alongside the protagonist. What I love most about experiencing 'Bunny' as an audiobook is how immersive it is. The subtle inflections and pacing of the narrator really draw you into Samantha's increasing alienation and the almost dreamlike quality of the plot. The novel explores themes of friendship, identity, creativity, and the dark side of female bonding in a way that's both hilarious and genuinely disturbing. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you appreciate a story that pushes boundaries and challenges conventions, this is a must-listen. I find myself constantly thinking about the story even when I’m not listening. The aesthetics described, like a dark purple aesthetic with flowers, candles, and even a spiderweb, really paint a vivid picture in your mind, enhancing the gothic, whimsical, yet sinister vibe of the book. It's perfect for those cozy, slightly eerie evenings when you want to get lost in a truly unique world. If you're looking for an audiobook that will stick with you long after the final chapter, 'Bunny' is it. Seriously, if you haven't tried it yet, give it a listen!
