For ages, I was struggling with those relentless Terminid swarms in Helldivers 2, feeling like I was constantly calling for 'reinforcements on the way' and barely making it out alive. My friend kept telling me, 'Dude, ROVER PAIRED WITH THE LASER IS ONE OF THE THERMINIDS WEAKNESS!' Did I listen? Nope. I thought I knew better, mixing and matching stratagems without a clear plan. Big mistake! Finally, after one too many failed extractions, I decided to give his advice a real shot. And wow, what a game-changer! The Guard Dog Rover, with its autonomous laser turret, is an absolute beast against the smaller, faster Terminids that often overwhelm you. It constantly zaps them, keeping them off your back while you focus on the bigger threats or completing objectives. It's like having an extra pair of eyes and a steady stream of damage covering your flanks. No more getting blindsided by a sneaky Scavenger or Hunter! Its consistent, low-heat damage is perfect for thinning out the endless waves. Pairing it with the Laser Cannon? That's where the real magic happens. The Laser Cannon is fantastic for sustained fire on medium-armored targets like Brood Commanders or even softening up Chargers if you aim for weak spots. The synergy is incredible: the Rover handles the chaff, and you, with your trusty Laser Cannon, melt the bigger threats. The best part? No ammo count to worry about! I used to run out of ammo constantly with ballistic weapons, but with the Laser Cannon, as long as you manage its heat, you've got endless damage potential. This means fewer supply drops needed, freeing up stratagem slots for other crucial tools like airstrikes or an EAT. It's especially satisfying when you see 'OBJECTIVE COMPLETED' pop up after a particularly intense defense, knowing your laser-powered duo made it possible. One tip I picked up: always try to keep the Rover between you and the enemy when possible, especially when reloading your primary weapon or using a support backpack. It acts as a fantastic distraction and damage sponge, soaking up some hits that would otherwise come your way. Also, don't forget to periodically check its health – it's not invincible! If you see it taking too much damage, fall back and let it recharge or call in a fresh one if you can. It’s also surprisingly effective in tighter spaces, as its laser beam doesn't suffer from projectile drop or spread, making it reliable in any terrain. Seriously, if you're struggling with Terminid missions, give the Rover + Laser combo a try. It's incredibly practical and makes a noticeable difference. It frees you up to think more tactically and worry less about the constant stream of bugs. I wish I hadn't been so stubborn and listened to @Lachii58 sooner. Live and learn, right? Now, I'm all about spreading this democratic power to all my fellow Helldivers!
