#SargentoPartner Cheeseburger crunch wrap with a honey grilled onion ring on top. Sargento® Natural American Cheese on hot beef and it just immediately does its thing. #ad Recipe below:
Cheeseburger Crunch Wraps with Honey Grilled Onion Ring
Makes 2
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burrito-sized flour tortillas
- 2 tostada shells
- Sargento® Natural American Cheese, 1 slice per patty (or more, follow your heart)
- 1 romaine hearts, chopped
- 1 tomato diced
- 2 thin rings onions
- Honey
Burger Sauce
- ¼ cup mayo
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tsp mustard
- 3 tbsp pickles, chopped
- 2 tsp apple cider vinegar
- Pinch of garlic powder
- Pinch of paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Chop romaine hearts and dice tomato. Set aside.
2. Cut 2 of the flour tortillas into smaller rounds, roughly the size of a tostada shell. Set aside.
3. Mix all burger sauce ingredients together. Taste and adjust to your liking.
4. Season ground beef with salt and pepper. Brown in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks. 5. While the beef is still hot, lay Sargento® Natural American Cheese slices directly on top and let them melt.
6. Build the wraps: spread burger sauce on a large tortilla, add beef and melted cheese, place a tostada shell on top, spread more burger sauce, add tomato and romaine, then top with the small cut tortilla. Fold the edges of the large tortilla up and over to close.
7. Place the wrap seal side down in the cast iron skillet. Sear until golden and sealed.
8. Remove the wrap. Place onion rings in the same skillet, sear until charred on one side, flip, and drizzle with honey.
9. Place the crunch wrap back in the pan, top side down, directly onto the honey onion ring. Carefully slide a spatula underneath and flip so the onion ring is sitting on top.
10. Cut in half and serve.
Okay, so I was absolutely obsessed with cheeseburger crunch wraps from fast food, but making them at home? That was a total game-changer, especially this version with the incredible honey-grilled onion ring! I've made these a few times now, tweaking little things here and there, and I've got some extra tips to share that really made mine go from good to absolutely perfect. First off, let's talk about that satisfying 'crunch' – it's not just for show! I've found that giving my tostada shells a quick, dry sear in the same skillet before assembling makes them extra crispy. Just a minute or two on each side over medium heat. This prevents any sogginess from the fillings and guarantees that satisfying snap with every bite. You want them just slightly toasted, not burnt. And of course, the stars of the show are the beef and the cheese. For the ground beef, I always opt for a lean-to-fat ratio that browns well but isn't overly greasy. Seasoning generously with salt and pepper while it cooks is key. The magic really happens when you lay those Sargento® Natural American Cheese slices directly onto the hot beef right after it's cooked. That instant melt creates this incredible, gooey, high-quality layer that binds everything together. It's truly amazing how Sargento, made with only five ingredients, just does its thing so perfectly, giving you that authentic cheeseburger taste. Now, the folding part can seem a little intimidating, but it's all about technique. Start by placing your large tortilla with the fillings in the center. Bring one edge of the tortilla up and over, tucking it under the filling. Then, continue working your way around the circle, folding and tucking as you go. You want to create a tight, sealed package. Don't be afraid to be firm, but gentle. Once folded, make sure to place it seam-side down in your pan for the initial sear. This helps to seal it perfectly and gives you that beautiful golden crust. My absolute favorite addition to this recipe, and what truly sets it apart, is that honey-grilled onion ring. Seriously, don't skip this step! Grilling the onion brings out a natural sweetness and char that's just divine. Then, a little drizzle of honey right before you flip it caramelizes beautifully, adding an unexpected savory-sweet element that elevates the entire crunch wrap experience. The trick is to carefully slide your spatula under the crunch wrap and flip it directly onto the onion ring when you put it back in the pan. The heat helps the onion ring adhere, making it an integral part of the burger. It's a small detail that makes a huge difference! And finally, for those of you who love to personalize your food, this recipe is incredibly versatile. While the homemade burger sauce (which you can totally adjust to your taste – more pickles, anyone?) is fantastic, don't hesitate to get creative with other toppings. I sometimes add pickled jalapeños for a kick, crispy bacon bits for extra savory goodness, or even a dollop of guacamole if I'm feeling fancy. Think beyond just lettuce and tomato, although those are always a classic! Making these cheeseburger crunch wraps at home isn't just about saving money; it's about the joy of creating something truly delicious and customized to your liking. You control the freshness, the quality (especially with that high-quality Sargento cheese!), and the love that goes into every bite. It's a fun project that yields incredibly satisfying results. Give these a try – you won't regret making your own gourmet version of a fast-food favorite!
