Cheeseburger Crunch Wraps with Honey Grilled Onion Ring
Makes 2
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burrito-sized flour tortillas
- 2 tostada shells
- Sargento® Natural American Cheese, 1 slice per patty (or more, follow your heart)
- 1 romaine hearts, chopped
- 1 tomato diced
- 2 thin rings onions
- Honey
Burger Sauce
- ¼ cup mayo
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tsp mustard
- 3 tbsp pickles, chopped
- 2 tsp apple cider vinegar
- Pinch of garlic powder
- Pinch of paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Chop romaine hearts and dice tomato. Set aside.
2. Cut 2 of the flour tortillas into smaller rounds, roughly the size of a tostada shell. Set aside.
3. Mix all burger sauce ingredients together. Taste and adjust to your liking.
4. Season ground beef with salt and pepper. Brown in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks. 5. While the beef is still hot, lay Sargento® Natural American Cheese slices directly on top and let them melt.
6. Build the wraps: spread burger sauce on a large tortilla, add beef and melted cheese, place a tostada shell on top, spread more burger sauce, add tomato and romaine, then top with the small cut tortilla. Fold the edges of the large tortilla up and over to close.
7. Place the wrap seal side down in the cast iron skillet. Sear until golden and sealed.
8. Remove the wrap. Place onion rings in the same skillet, sear until charred on one side, flip, and drizzle with honey.
9. Place the crunch wrap back in the pan, top side down, directly onto the honey onion ring. Carefully slide a spatula underneath and flip so the onion ring is sitting on top.
10. Cut in half and serve.
Okay, so if you're anything like me, you're always on the hunt for that next crave-worthy meal that brings a little excitement to your dinner table. And let me tell you, when I first tried making these Cheeseburger Crunch Wraps, my life (and dinner routine!) changed forever. It's not just a meal; it's an experience! You get all the classic flavors of a juicy cheeseburger, but wrapped up in a crispy, portable package. Pure genius, right? One of the biggest secrets to a truly epic crunch wrap, I’ve learned, is the cheese. You need something that melts beautifully and adds that quintessential gooey burger goodness. That's why I always reach for Sargento® Natural American Cheese. Seriously, it just does its thing perfectly, melting into the hot beef seamlessly. Plus, knowing it's a high-quality natural cheese with only five ingredients makes me feel good about what I'm serving. It’s those little details, like how effortlessly it melts over your perfectly browned beef, that make all the difference. Now, let's talk about building these beauties. The original recipe gives you the core steps, but I’ve picked up a few tricks along the way to ensure every wrap is a masterpiece. When you're browning your beef, make sure to get a nice sear on it for extra flavor – don't just steam it. And when it comes to the burger sauce, don't skimp! It's the creamy, tangy glue that brings everything together. I even like to make a double batch of the sauce because it’s amazing on so many other things. The assembly can seem a little daunting at first, but trust me, it gets easier. The key is distributing your burger sauce, beef, and cheese evenly. And when you're placing that tostada shell, remember it's your crunch anchor! For the folding, take your time. You want to tightly fold it and seal those edges meticulously. My tip? Don't be afraid to really press down as you fold. Then, when you put it in the pan to sear, make sure it’s seal-side down first. This helps it ‘glue’ together and after searing, you get that gorgeous, golden-brown crust. And finally, the crowning glory: that honey grilled onion ring. Oh my goodness, this takes the crunch wrap from great to absolutely legendary. I found that searing the onion rings until they're slightly charred before adding that sweet honey drizzle brings out such an incredible depth of flavor. It's that perfect balance of savory, sweet, and smoky that elevates every single bite. Carefully sliding your spatula under the hot wrap to place it on top of that onion ring, then flipping it, is the ultimate chef's kiss. You can totally customize these too! While I love the classic lettuce and tomato, sometimes I'll throw in some diced pickles right into the wrap itself for an extra tang, or even a sprinkle of crispy fried onions. Serve them up with a side of sweet potato fries or a simple green salad, and you've got a meal that’s fun, filling, and packed with flavor. Give this Cheeseburger Crunch Wrap a try; I promise, you won't regret it!
