Your best tips to keep 🍑 that while looking toned✨
Hey fitness fam! So many of you ask me, 'how are you skinny with a big butt?' and honestly, it’s all about consistency, smart training, and nourishing your body from the inside out. I've been on this journey for a while, and these are the strategies that have truly worked for me to achieve a toned physique with strong, shapely glutes. First off, let's talk about the gym. If you want to see real changes, especially in your lower body, you absolutely must lift heavy on lower body day. I used to be scared of lifting heavy, thinking I’d get bulky, but it’s been the game-changer for building my glutes and getting that toned look. Focus on compound movements like squats, deadlifts, hip thrusts, and lunges. Aim for 3-4 sets of 6-12 reps, making sure the last few reps are challenging. Progressive overload is key – gradually increasing the weight, reps, or sets over time. Don't be afraid to push yourself; your muscles need that stimulus to grow! Next up: nutrition. This is where a lot of the magic happens for maintaining a 'skinny' look while building muscle. My golden rule is to make your diet mostly whole foods. Think lean proteins, plenty of fruits and vegetables, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats. I personally aim for a high protein calorie deficit when I'm trying to lean out or maintain. This means eating enough protein to support muscle repair and growth (I aim for 1g per pound of body weight) while consuming slightly fewer calories than I burn. This helps shed body fat without sacrificing muscle. For breakfast, I love a big bowl of Greek yogurt with berries and granola – packed with protein and antioxidants! And what about cardio? Some people avoid it, fearing muscle loss, but I find it essential for overall health and maintaining a lean physique. My go-to is to simply walk for cardio (you won't lose muscle). I aim for at least 10,000 steps a day, often breaking it up into brisk walks in the morning or after dinner. It’s low-impact, great for active recovery, and helps burn calories without catabolizing muscle like intense, prolonged cardio might. Plus, it’s a great way to clear your head! Hydration and gut health are often overlooked but are super important. I make it a point to heal your gut & drink ~3L water daily. Staying hydrated isn’t just about feeling good; it’s crucial for metabolism, nutrient transport, and even muscle function. I always have a water bottle with me. And for gut health, I focus on fermented foods, fiber-rich veggies, and sometimes a probiotic. I also make sure to drink electrolytes especially after a sweaty workout. They help with recovery, prevent muscle cramps, and keep me feeling energized without the jitters. Finally, don't underestimate the power of rest and recovery. Your muscles don't grow in the gym; they grow when you're resting. I prioritize getting 7-9 hours of sleep every night and incorporate active recovery days. This could be light stretching, foam rolling, or a gentle walk. I even use recovery compression boots on some evenings to really help my legs recover from those heavy lower body days. So, remember to get enough rest & recovery – your body will thank you, and you'll see better results in the long run. Building a strong, toned body with shapely glutes is a journey, not a destination. It requires dedication to both your workouts and your lifestyle choices. By focusing on heavy lifting, smart nutrition, consistent cardio, proper hydration, and ample rest, you too can achieve your fitness goals. Keep pushing, stay consistent, and enjoy the process!
