Gunpla/Plamo showcase
So with TikTok looking like it’s going to get the big red X, I think it was high time to film a showcase of all my current completed builds and backlog. I also wanted to showcase it here as well. I love building gunpla. It’s been a real joy for me and has really improved my overall mental health. It is my hope that I’m able to continue building, honing my skills, learning new skills, and possibly one day enter a kit into a build tournament. Happy building everyone! #gunplabuilder #gunpla #gundam #collectionshowcase
Building Gunpla has been such a transformative hobby for me, and while my latest showcase covers a lot of ground, I really wanted to dive deeper into one of my personal favorites: the High Grade (HG) Dom Trooper. This kit is a fantastic example of why I love Gunpla so much. When I first got my hands on the HG Dom Trooper, I was immediately drawn to its unique, bulky design – it stands out so much from the more traditional Gundam mobile suits. What I really appreciated about building the Dom Trooper was its straightforward yet satisfying assembly process. As an HG, it’s not overly complex, making it a great choice for both beginners looking to step up from simpler kits and seasoned builders who want a relaxing project. The parts fit together beautifully, and the color separation is surprisingly good for a High Grade kit, meaning you don't have to rely heavily on painting to achieve a striking look. Of course, a little panel lining and some topcoat really make those details pop! One of the things I always look for in a kit is articulation, and the Dom Trooper delivers. Despite its somewhat stocky appearance, you can pose it in some really dynamic ways, especially with its iconic beam bazooka. I spent ages posing mine just right, trying to capture that powerful, aggressive stance it has in the anime. It's these little moments of bringing a plastic model to life that truly bring me joy and help me unwind after a long day. Honestly, the focus required for these builds has been a real boost for my mental well-being, allowing me to switch off and just create. For anyone considering building the HG Dom Trooper, here are a few personal tips: Nippers are your Best Friend: Invest in a good pair of nippers. Clean cuts minimize nub marks, which are always more noticeable on darker plastic like the Dom Trooper's. Panel Lining: Even if you don't paint, panel lining will make a huge difference. The Dom Trooper has plenty of panel lines that, when accentuated, give it so much depth and realism. I usually use a fine-tip Gundam Marker for this. Topcoat for Protection: A matte topcoat not only protects your decals and panel lines but also gives the kit a more realistic, less 'plasticky' finish. It truly elevates the final look. Accessories: Don't forget its unique shield and giant beam bazooka. Posing it with these can really make your display stand out. This build, like so many others, has been a fantastic journey, and it’s always a privilege to share my passion with the gunpla community. Seeing everyone's builds and sharing tips, especially when we might be facing changes with platforms like TikTok, reminds me how special this community is. So, after showcasing my whole collection, the HG Dom Trooper still holds a special place. Happy building, everyone – I hope this deep dive encourages you to pick up a kit and experience the same joy!
