... Read moreBuilding Gunpla is one of my favorite hobbies, and the High Grade Kamiki Burning Gundam has always been a special kit for me. When I first got my hands on it, I knew I wanted to push its limits and truly make it my own. The idea of making it go 'Super Saiyan' just clicked, and that's exactly what I aimed to achieve with this custom build! It’s such a rewarding feeling to take a standard kit and infuse it with your own vision.
One of the most exciting parts was integrating those incredible flame-like effect parts. If you're looking to give your Gunpla that dynamic, 'burning' aura, investing in good effect parts is a game-changer. I found that attaching them securely to the back, creating almost a halo effect, really emphasized the power and energy I wanted to convey. The translucent orange flames, especially when illuminated by blue light, truly make the model glow brightly – it's like bringing the intense battle scenes from the anime to life right on your display stand! This visual impact is what truly transforms a good build into something spectacular.
For this particular build, I really focused on dynamic posing to convey motion and power. I wanted to capture it in an action stance, lunging forward with its weapon, as if it's about to strike. Posing is half the battle in making your Gunpla look alive, and spending time to get those angles just right makes all the difference. Speaking of weapons, adding a custom katana was a must for me. It just adds another layer of coolness and uniqueness to the classic red, white, and blue Gundam color scheme. Finding the right scale and ensuring it looked natural in its hand, whether held horizontally in front of its chest or diagonally downwards, was a fun challenge that really paid off in the final display.
The beauty of the Kamiki Burning Gundam is its inherent design, which lends itself so well to customization. The High Grade kits are fantastic canvases for creativity, offering a great balance of detail and articulation without being overly complex. If you're thinking of trying a custom Kamiki Burning Gundam, don't be afraid to experiment with different paints to enhance its iconic colors, maybe even some light weathering, and definitely explore various effect parts. Seeing my model, with its custom katana and surrounded by multiple glowing orange flame-like effect parts, truly feels like an accomplishment. It's not just a model; it's a piece of art that reflects my passion for Gunpla and the sheer joy of bringing a vision to life.
