Autism & Change are not friends

As an autistic person, change (even good change!) is scary as heck. I’ve known for months that this was coming. 😅 I’ve known I need to figure out what to do in other social media spaces for a long time now. And yet I avoided it because the idea of learning new algorithms and new ways to “game the system” was just so exhausting. 😬 And now we’re here and I am learning all of them all at the same time 😂 But I’m having fun, even though that fear is still lingering. I’m just trying to embrace being me and realizing that any social space where me as I am is not “correct” isn’t the place for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway find me on Bluesky and Youtube and Red Note lol! 🤪

... Read moreChange can be a particularly challenging concept for many autistic individuals. The fear of the unknown, especially in social media landscapes, can lead to feelings of anxiety and hesitation. Embracing platforms like Bluesky or YouTube may feel overwhelming due to the constant updates and changing algorithms. However, finding spaces that accept you for who you are is essential. This journey can also be seen as an opportunity for growth and adaptation, promoting personal and professional development. Understanding neurodivergence is crucial when discussing experiences of change. It's important to acknowledge that every individual's reaction to change can differ vastly. While some may find joy in the exploration of new social interactions, others may feel an intense pressure to conform to unfamiliar expectations. Creating inclusive environments where autistic voices are heard can foster more positive interactions. Additionally, supporting businesses created by and for neurodivergent individuals, such as unique sticker shops or art projects, further empowers the community. These enterprises not only provide financial independence but also highlight the strengths of autistic artists and entrepreneurs. By purchasing products from such businesses, individuals contribute to breaking down the stigma around neurodivergence. Remember, at the end of the day, being true to yourself and finding supportive communities is what truly matters.
