Does that make you selfish??

You should never have to beg for what you deserve. You should never have to beg for the bare minimum. And you certainly should never have to feel selfish for wanting the same effort that you’re already giving! HOW could that make you selfish??

If you are needing to fight for effort from someone you’re giving g your efforts to, do yourself a huge favor and LEAVE. Because at the very least, YOU can give YOURSELF the effort you need, instead of wasting it on someone who actually is selfish.

... Read moreIn my own experience, realizing that wanting equal effort in any relationship isn’t selfish was a major turning point. I used to feel guilty asking for the same attention and energy I was putting in, but that only led to frustration and emotional drain. It’s crucial to understand that mutual respect and effort are the foundation of healthy relationships, whether romantic, friendship, or family. The phrase "you're not selfish for wanting the same effort YOU give" is one that resonated deeply with me. It helped me shift my mindset from self-doubt to self-worth. When you consistently give your all but receive little in return, it’s not just exhausting—it’s a sign that your needs aren’t being valued. Learning to recognize this imbalance can empower you to set clear boundaries. Also, fighting for effort from someone who doesn’t reciprocate often means you’re wasting your valuable energy. Instead, putting that effort into yourself—through self-care, personal growth, and building supportive connections—can transform your well-being. Walking away from relationships where you have to beg for respect or appreciation is not defeat; it's a courageous act of raising your standards. Emotional intelligence plays a huge role here. It’s about understanding your feelings, managing your expectations, and communicating your needs clearly. When someone dismisses your desire for equal effort, it may reflect their own limitations or selfishness, not a flaw in you. Ultimately, self-care is not selfish. It is necessary for maintaining balance and happiness. You deserve to be treated with the same effort and respect you offer.
