please leave suggestions and art tips he's supposed to be a alien guy
It’s always a thrill to create an alien character from scratch, isn't it? As I work on my WIP drawing, I often find myself thinking about all the different elements that truly bring an extraterrestrial design to life. If you're also diving into alien character art, here are some tips I've picked up that might help you, or even spark new ideas for my own 'alien guy'! First off, think about their physiology. What kind of planet are they from? Does it have low gravity, high pressure, or a unique atmosphere? These environmental factors can dictate everything from their skin texture to their limb structure. For example, my current alien has a light green skin tone. Maybe his planet has a lot of flora, or perhaps it's a camouflage adaptation! When you're drawing the face, consider how different it can be from a human face. Do they have a nose? How about a mouth? Some aliens might communicate telepathically, making a mouth less crucial, or it could be purely for feeding. The eyes are often the focal point; big, small, multiple, no eyes at all – each choice tells a story about their perception of the world. When I was sketching out the spiky dark blue hair for my character, I thought about whether it's actually hair, or some kind of sensory organ, or even crystalline growth! Don't limit yourself to earth-like biology. Consider unique features like bioluminescent markings, extra appendages, or unusual skeletal structures. For the torso and overall body, play with proportions. Is your alien tall and slender, or short and stout? Do they have traditional arms and legs, or something entirely different? Thinking about their movement, strength, and posture can really inform the final design. Another big tip for creating compelling alien character art is to give them a purpose or a personality, even if it's just in your head. Are they peaceful explorers, fierce warriors, or cunning scientists? Their role can influence their attire, expression, and even their body language. For a WIP drawing like mine, it’s great to keep these questions in mind as you refine details. Don't be afraid to experiment with different lines and shapes. My alien started with just a simple oval face shape, and then I slowly added closed eyes, refining them, adding a nose, and then a mouth outline. Each step builds on the last. Finally, remember to look for inspiration everywhere! Science fiction films, concept art, nature (deep-sea creatures are amazing for alien ideas!), and even geology can spark incredible designs. The process of drawing an alien isn’t just about making something look unfamiliar; it’s about making it feel real within its own context. I'm excited to see how my 'alien guy' evolves, and these considerations really help guide the artistic decisions.

I love the process of it! And how you can like see it slowly come together!
