Push, pull, repeat. Upper body gains in progress! #pulluptips #chestday #bicepsandtriceps #workout #gymmotivation
After crushing an intense 'Upper Body Circuit' like the one I shared, focusing on 'Incline Bench', 'BB Overhead Shoulder Press', 'EZ Bar Curls (Wide Grip)', 'Weighted Dips', and 'Wide Grip Pull Ups', you might be wondering how to structure the rest of your week to hit all those other key muscle groups effectively. This is where understanding a proper 'workout split' comes in, especially if you're aiming for balanced growth across your 'back, biceps, chest, triceps, shoulders, and legs'. For me, finding a split that works has been a game-changer. It ensures I hit everything without overtraining or neglecting any area. A common approach is a 'Push, Pull, Legs' (PPL) split, or a traditional 'Bro Split' where each day focuses on one or two muscle groups. Given our 'Upper Body Circuit' covers push muscles (chest, shoulders, triceps) and some pull (biceps, back via pull-ups), let's talk about how to integrate it and ensure 'legs' and more dedicated 'back' work get their time to shine. On a dedicated 'Pull' day, you'd dive deeper into 'back' muscles. Think about incorporating exercises like deadlifts (if comfortable), bent-over rows, lat pulldowns, and face pulls. This complements the 'Wide Grip Pull Ups' from the upper body day by hitting your back from different angles. And of course, your 'biceps' get more love here too, perhaps with hammer curls or concentration curls after your heavy back work. Now, for 'legs' – often the most skipped day, but so crucial! My absolute favorite leg day routine always includes squats, Romanian deadlifts (RDLs), lunges, leg press, and some isolation work like hamstring curls and leg extensions. Don't forget calf raises! A good 'legs' day will leave you feeling strong and grounded, balancing out all that upper body power. Here's a sample weekly 'split' I've found effective, incorporating our 'Upper Body Circuit': Monday: Upper Body Circuit (Chest, Shoulders, Triceps, Biceps, some Back with pull-ups) Tuesday: Legs (Squats, RDLs, Lunges, Leg Press, Hamstring Curls, Calf Raises) Wednesday: Rest or Active Recovery (e.g., light cardio, stretching) Thursday: Back & Biceps (Deadlifts, Bent-Over Rows, Lat Pulldowns, Bicep Curls) Friday: Shoulders & Triceps (Overhead Press variations, Lateral Raises, Triceps Pushdowns, Dips – maybe a lighter version of what's in the circuit if you're sore) Saturday: Full Body Circuit or Active Recovery Sunday: Rest This kind of structure ensures that 'chest, shoulders, biceps, triceps, back, and legs' all get dedicated attention throughout the week. Remember to always include a proper 'Warm up' before any intense session, and don't forget your cardio, like that '1.50 mile run' after a tough lift! The key is listening to your body and adjusting. If you're feeling fatigued, take an extra rest day. Consistency is more important than intensity every single session. And after all that hard work, a little 'posing action' to see your progress is definitely a well-deserved reward!
