ในชีวิตประจำวัน การแยกแยะระหว่างสินทรัพย์และหนี้สินอย่างชัดเจนเป็นกุญแจสำคัญที่ช่วยให้เราวางแผนการเงินได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ ผมเคยพบกับหลายคนที่คิดว่าการมีรถยนต์หรือเครื่องใช้ไฟฟ้าราคาแพงเป็นเครื่องหมายของความร่ำรวย แต่ในความจริงแล้ว สิ่งเหล่านี้ส่วนใหญ่เป็นหนี้สินที่ค่อยๆ ดูดเงินจากเราไปโดยไม่รู้ตัว จากภาพที่แสดงให้เห็นในการเปรียบเทียบสินทรัพย์และหนี้สิน ช่วยให้ผมเข้าใจได้ชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้นว่า หุ้น บ้านให้เช่า หรือธุรกิจส่วนตัว คือสินทรัพย์ที่นำเงินเข้ากระเป๋าเสมอ ต่างจากบ้านที่เราอยู่อาศัยหรือรถยนต์ที่ต้องเสียค่าบำรุงรักษาและค่าใช้จ่ายเพิ่มเติมอยู่ตลอดเวลา สิ่งนี้สอนให้ผมเปลี่ยนมุมมองการใช้จ่าย และนำเงินไปลงทุนในสิ่งที่จะสร้างรายได้ในระยะยาวมากขึ้น จากการสังเกตพฤติกรรมคนรวยที่มุ่งเน้นสะสมสินทรัพย์ และหลีกเลี่ยงหนี้สินที่ไม่จำเป็น เช่น ผ่อนรถหรือซื้อของแบรนด์เนม ที่จริงแล้วเป็นการเก็บหนี้สินซึ่งไม่ช่วยเพิ่มมูลค่า ผมอยากแนะนำให้ทุกคนลองจดรายการสินทรัพย์และหนี้สินที่มีอยู่ในชีวิต จากนั้นวางแผนลดหนี้สินที่ไม่มีรายได้รองรับ และหันมาศึกษาวิธีการลงทุนง่าย ๆ เช่น การซื้อหุ้นปันผล หรือการลงทุนในอสังหาริมทรัพย์ให้เช่า ซึ่งจะช่วยให้เงินของคุณทำงานและสร้างรายได้แบบพาสซีฟ รวมถึงเพิ่มความมั่งคั่งไปพร้อมกับเวลา ท้ายที่สุดแล้ว ความมั่งคั่งที่แท้จริงไม่ได้มาแค่จากการมีเงินมาก แต่คือการที่เราใช้เงินอย่างชาญฉลาด และลงทุนในสิ่งที่จะทำให้เราไม่ต้องทำงานหนักตลอดชีวิต
