signs of poor gut health🫣

too often, we notice things happening in our bodies and ignore it because we think it's "normal". many of the discomfort we feel is our bodies sending us a signal that something is wrong, imbalanced, or unhealthy.

pay attention to these signs, they can be a signal that your gut is off balance.

✨TIPS TO HELP YOUR GUT✨

• focus on fiber diversity

→ instead of just eating “healthy,” aim for 30+ plant-based foods a week (fruits, veggies, legumes, grains, herbs). more diversity = stronger microbiome.

• support your digestion before meals

→ drink a little warm lemon water w/ a pinch of sea salt. calms your nervous system & preps digestion.

• stop eating in a rush

→ the gut can’t work well in fight-or-flight. slow down, chew your food (20–30x per bite), and don’t multitask while eating.

• watch how much you’re snacking

→ constant grazing can prevent your migrating motor complex (mmc) from doing its job—clearing out waste between meals.

• reduce alcohol + artificial sweeteners

→ both can throw off gut bacteria and increase inflammation (even “healthy” sugar-free drinks can mess with you).

• move your body daily

→ not just for fitness — movement helps your digestion + lymphatic flow. even a 10–15 min walk after meals makes a huge difference.

• prioritize your oral hygiene

→ gut health starts in the mouth. oil pulling, tongue scraping, and brushing your tongue can help reduce bad bacteria overload.

• swap your daily products with harmful ingredients

→ artificial dyes, fragrance, and fillers can sneak in through your skin + mess with your gut. clean swaps make a big difference over time.

Common physical signs include constant bloating, gas, stomach pain, and even skin irritations like acne and eczema, which can often indicate underlying gut issues. Additionally, internal symptoms may involve chronic fatigue, increased food sensitivities, sleep disturbances, inflammation, mood swings, and a weakened immune system. Recognizing these symptoms enables proactive steps to restore gut health. Incorporating a diverse range of plant-based foods into your diet can significantly enhance gut health; aim for at least 30 different fruits, vegetables, legumes, and grains each week. Regular movement, such as walking after meals, improves digestion and promotes lymphatic flow. Don't underestimate the importance of proper oral hygiene; practices like oil pulling and tongue scraping can decrease harmful bacteria that affect gut health. Lastly, minimizing alcohol consumption and avoiding artificial sweeteners can help maintain a healthy gut microbiome. By staying attuned to the signs your body is sending and making these adjustments, you can enhance your digestive health and overall vitality.
