Replying to @🌻ChiquitaLaChelle🌻 Hysterctomy was still the best thing I’ve ever done besides my tata reduction. No periods? Bet. Less pain? Absolutely. It also helped with my PMDD symptoms. My emotions were everywhere for a while, because my hormones needed to adjust while my ovary rebooted or whatever it needed to do. My best advice for after your hysterectomy are to REST, even when you don’t think you need it. SIT DOWN! You only heal once. Also, make sure you look into pelvic floor therapy once healed enough. I don’t think enough people talk about pelvic floor therapy after a hysterectomy and it was SO helpful. #hysterectomy
Hysterectomy, the surgical removal of the uterus, is a significant procedure that can bring relief from conditions such as excessive menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, and severe PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) symptoms. Post-operative recovery involves not only physical healing but also hormonal adjustments, particularly if the ovaries are left intact or removed. Hormonal fluctuations after surgery can lead to mood swings and emotional changes, underscoring the need for patience as the body adapts. Rest is crucial during the initial healing phase after a hysterectomy. Although it may be tempting to resume normal activities quickly, allowing the body ample time to repair helps prevent complications and promotes better outcomes. Patients are encouraged to "sit down" and avoid overexertion because healing only occurs once, and proper care during this period is fundamental. An often-overlooked aspect of post-hysterectomy care is pelvic floor therapy. This specialized therapy focuses on strengthening and rehabilitating the pelvic muscles, which can be weakened or affected by surgery. Incorporating pelvic floor therapy once medically approved can enhance recovery, improve bladder and bowel function, and reduce pelvic discomfort. Despite its benefits, many patients are not adequately informed about this therapy, making awareness essential. Recovery timelines vary among individuals, but monitoring pain levels, mobility, and pelvic health is key. Follow-up consultations with healthcare providers help ensure that healing progresses as expected and that any emotional or physical concerns are addressed promptly. In summary, successful hysterectomy recovery combines proper rest, understanding hormonal shifts, and rehabilitative interventions such as pelvic floor therapy. Patients should seek comprehensive post-operative care plans and utilize support networks to navigate the healing process effectively, ultimately improving quality of life after surgery.
