5 Star Books That Left Me Deeply Unsettled
1 - I’m Thinking of Ending Things, by Iain Reid
This book still haunts me. The slow tone, confusing dialog, and disturbing reveals crept under my skin.
2 - Head Full of Ghosts, by Paul Tremblay
The possession cliche perfected. The bond between the sisters and the blog entry’s had me hooked.
3 - The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde
A tragic story of vanity and narcissism. While I knew the ending, the behavior of Dorian completely astounded me and kept me reading to find out how much worse this situation could get.
4 - Penpal, by Dathan Auerbach
Nothing has held my attention captive like this book. The last pages caused my heart to plummet. Every page completely disturbed me more and more.
5 - House of Leaves, by Mark Z. Danielewski
After reading I felt more broken hearted than I have ever felt before. This book took me 2 years to fully read and comprehend, but I cannot stress how amazing it is. The letters revelation at the end left me horrified, and searching the book for all the connections.
The 5 star rating is my personal rating for these books.
