Things Black Women Are Not Doing in 2025

What Black Women Are Not Doing in 2025:

We are not settling.

We are not shrinking ourselves to make others feel comfortable.

We are not standing up for those who won’t stand up for us.

We are not begging for seats at tables we can build ourselves.

We are not dimming our brilliance to make mediocrity shine.

We are not waiting for permission to be great.

What we are doing? Thriving, leading, and reclaiming every ounce of our power. Period. ✨ #BlackExcellence #KnowYourWorth

This new wave of empowerment is illustrated through a variety of actions that they are choosing not to partake in. For instance, they refuse to settle for relationships that do not uplift them—rejecting what is often termed ‘struggle love’. Additionally, Black women are no longer compelled to educate those outside their race on systemic injustices, as the emotional labor required is heavy, and the need for explanations for their hair choices has diminished. The modern understanding of mental health is leading them to prioritize their mental well-being over the pressures of capitalism, thus allowing themselves the freedom to thrive rather than merely survive. They are also learning to conserve their energy by stepping away from drama and unnecessary conflicts, focusing on their own personal growth instead. Black women will not dim their brilliance to accommodate others; they are claiming their space unapologetically in all areas of life. This movement is part of a larger trend that emphasizes Black excellence and self-love. Ultimately, this narrative of refusal and resilience reflects a growing trend among Black women who are determined to chart their own course and embody their inherent power.
