follow your heart?
no, follow Christ… our emotions are not anchored in truth but He is the way, the truth, and the life.

In my own journey of faith, I used to struggle with the common advice to "follow your heart." Over time, I realized that our feelings can be misleading and unstable, especially when trying to make important life decisions. The Bible clearly warns us that "the heart is deceitful above all things" (Jeremiah 17:9), highlighting why emotions alone shouldn’t be our guiding star. When I started anchoring my decisions in Christ and His teachings rather than fleeting feelings, my outlook changed completely. Trusting in Jesus, who is described as "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6), brought me peace and clarity no matter the circumstances. It’s a reminder that our hearts can lead us astray, but God’s wisdom is steady and true. One of the verses that greatly encouraged me is Proverbs 4:23: "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." This taught me the importance of protecting my inner thoughts and emotions by focusing on God’s word. Scripture offers a solid foundation to navigate the complexities of life, helping us avoid decisions driven by momentary impulses. For those struggling with emotional turmoil, prayer and reading the Bible can be incredibly grounding. By seeking God’s guidance first, we invite divine wisdom to shape our hearts and minds. This approach doesn’t ignore feelings but places them in the context of a greater, unchanging truth. In summary, while feelings are natural and important, they’re not always reliable guides. Choosing to follow Christ ensures that our decisions align with a truth that surpasses human understanding, providing lasting hope and direction in an uncertain world.
