Cotton bra
Cotton is soft and breathable and you would think that it will make a great fit for a bra, however bras need to be tough. That’s why most of them are nylon or mix of nylon with spandex and heavily padded and lined with more synthetics.
I created 5-6 of these and wore them and put them through the washer and I solved the problems as they appeared.
For example, I put an underwire in the cups and it poked through the cotton. So I interfaced the portion where the wire touches the cup and that solved it. Still cotton, just a bit tougher.
Most clasps come already pre made with hook & eyes but they are nylon and they come in most basic colors black white beige and that’s it. There was no way I’d match a cotton rib in baby blue to the clasp so I had to come up with my own. And they are tough to make too!
The hook & eyes need to line up perfectly, or they will look messy and home made. They also have to be tough because the entire bra rests on that closure. As much as I love seamless and clean finish, the design has to step back and priority has to be given to functionality. The hook and eyes need to be secured through the clasp through all the layers not just the inside.
I am waiting for the holidays to be over and I am going to release this matching cotton bra to match the panties and thongs.
