Start by considering the climate and soil type in your area, as different flowers thrive in different conditions. Annuals and perennials both can add beauty to your garden, but they require different levels of care and attention. Annuals offer vibrant colors and a chance for change each season, while perennials can provide lasting beauty year after year. When selecting flowers, think about the color palette you want to create. Complementary colors can make each flower pop, while harmonious colors create a more serene environment. Donโ€™t forget to include a variety of textures and heights to create visual interest. Moreover, consider the bloom time of the flowersโ€”choosing a variety will ensure your garden looks lovely all season long! Lastly, pay attention to the maintenance required for each flower type. Some may require regular deadheading or staking, while others thrive with minimal care. Research and planning can lead to a vibrant garden that reflects your personal style and brings joy throughout the year.

Iโ€™m terrible keeping plants alive, but I have decent luck with the things that will continue to come back year after year. I like to just choose pretty flowers that will look good together in terms of colors

Once I decide where I want them (pots, ground, hanging), I then have to decide where they will be (sun, shade) and then it makes the selection pretty simple. I also look to see how tall they can grow.
