Day 4 YanTai
QingDao-Yantai Day 4: (January 28, 2026)
Leave a portion of your luggage at the hotel. After eating, drag a single luggage to the train station near the hotel. Book all the trains and go through the 12306 app of the Chinese Railway. Arrive without a ticket. Just show your passport and walk through the high-speed train to YanTai, another seaside town north of QingDao, leaving at exactly 10.29 to 12.03. It's exactly on time to go. Book a hotel near the station as well. It's comfortable. The hotel has a room to check in. Get a little rest. Go to the first stop, take the bus to the seaside. The first point is far enough away. It appears that Alipay can't scan through the two people. The driver is kind to wave us. Take a ride through the city. YanTai is not as prosperous as QingDao. There is still no subway. Take a ride for 1 hour. Walk on to the seaside. The first point is HouSha Square. Start on the beach road. The road is vast. The beach is clearly divided by a bike and a very wide pedestrian path. If it were high season, people would be a lot. But recently, there is a lot of quiet construction work along the way. The beach is mostly blocked. Walk down to take pictures along the beach. It is very windy and cold, so I have to hurry because I have to walk further up to the view on the bridge that extends 20 meters into the sea. On the way, many of the points we pin are blocked. There is a big renovation. It's okay to walk out. Some times there is still snow, because the air is very cold, so it does not melt. Arriving at Sky ZhiYue is a double whale sculpture, built of stainless steel. A little later will be The Lonely Whale. The stranded whale that pops up its head and tail from the beach. It's huge. It's starting to have no light. The last walk is the Sun Tower. It just opened in September 2024. It's designed based on the movement of the sun. The interior has a shopping center, a cafe, a store, a library, an outdoor stage, it's getting dark. It's going to call DiDi back to the hotel. Stop by the hotel for a meal.
