My phone literally died 💀📱
I went to the pool, and when I got back to my apartment, I noticed water inside the cameras! I was so confused because I never even submerged it—just a few drops on top, that’s all. But somehow, all three cameras had water inside. A few days later, it started glitching, turning on and off, and eventually the screen stopped responding. I couldn’t click anything 😩
Long story short, I was forced to get a new phone way sooner than I planned (my wallet is still crying). But here we are — meet my new baby. Hopefully I can keep this one safe… especially from water! Let’s see how I like it!

It's truly a heartbreaking moment when your phone suddenly kicks the bucket, especially when you least expect it! After my own recent phone tragedy involving pool water, I've been doing a ton of research and wanted to share some insights that might help others avoid a similar fate, or at least know what to do if their phone takes an unexpected dip. First off, if your phone gets wet, even just a few drops like what happened with my water-damaged camera lenses, the absolute first thing to do is turn it OFF immediately. Don't try to see if it still works, don't plug it in to charge – just power it down. This can prevent short circuits. Next, if you have a removable battery (rare these days, but worth checking), take it out. Remove your SIM card and any memory cards. The goal is to open up as many ports as possible to allow air circulation. Now, about the famous 'rice trick' – honestly, most experts say it's more of a myth than a solution. While rice might absorb some external moisture, it's not very effective at drawing out water from inside the phone's intricate components. Plus, tiny dust particles or starch from the rice can actually get into ports and cause more damage. A better alternative is silica gel packets (those little packets you find in new shoes or bags), which are far more absorbent. You can also try placing your phone in front of a fan or using a desiccant like cat litter (unused, of course!) to help draw out moisture. Just remember, patience is key – you need to leave it drying for at least 24-48 hours, maybe even longer. Prevention is always better than cure, right? My new phone came with a clear protective case, and I'm definitely investing in a proper waterproof pouch for any future pool or beach trips. There are also many phones with good IP ratings for water resistance, but 'water-resistant' doesn't mean 'waterproof,' as I learned the hard way! Even a splash can find its way into vulnerable spots. Always double-check your phone's water resistance rating and understand its limitations. Finally, if your phone does end up dying, like my last one did, remember to back up your data regularly! It's something we all know we should do but often forget. Losing all those photos and contacts can be even more painful than losing the phone itself. Cloud services make it super easy these days. And when you're looking for a new phone after an accident, consider not just features but also durability and perhaps even accidental damage insurance. It might save your wallet from crying tears like mine did! Stay safe out there, phone owners!
